Alright…..so I just finished watching Frozen 2 (my review next week - one review a week is enough - I gotta spread it out - LOL!) and the song Into the Unknown has imprinted on my heart and brain in a strong and unexpected way. One minute i’m watching the movie and the next minute the credits start, this song comes on and I’m a puddle of tears.

All these images of unknowns throughout my life that I’m grateful everyday to have gone into - marriage, motherhood, our family business and now going into the unknown as an empty nester and aging ALL came flooding into my mind at warp speed and really made me emotional. I actually bought the song and made it my new ringtone - I just connected with this song.

I have a song at church that makes me cry to the point that I get a headache holding back the tears and I have a few other songs that do this too, but this one is the first one to do this to me for several years. Music has always been an emotional trigger for me.

So….please tell me I’m not the only one.
Share your song (does not have to be Disney) and your story - we’d all love to hear about it.

ETA…..it was this song during the current fireworks show at the MK that led me to start watching all these movies. When the music started DD19 leaned over and said, “This is from Frozen 2” because she knew I wouldn’t know. That’s when I told myself I need to catch up on these more current movies. When I hear this song I also think of this moment because we had so much fun on that trip - am unforgettable trip - loved every second of it.

"Your Heart Will Lead You Home" from the Tigger Movie. When the kids start singing it gets me every time.

ETA: I don't even think I've seen the whole Tigger Movie, but this was played ALL THE TIME on the Disney Channel when it came out.

The Rose by Bette Midler. It was my late Mother's favorite song and she often asked her best friend's daughter to sing it for her at different events where there was karaoke. Her best friend's daughter was a very talented singer and my Mom loved her rendition of it. When we had my Mother's funeral in 2016, that song was heavy on my mind, but I didn't really have any music planned for her service. During the calling hours before her service, the woman walked up to me and she said the song had been on her mind all morning and would I like her to sing The Rose during my Mom's service and she brought the music with her. I was in tears. She sang that song perfectly during my Mom's service and I'll never forget that or her kindness.

Here’s a seasonally appropriate song that ended up being unexpectedly sad for me - -

A few years ago I was making a playlist for the fall season, including Halloween songs. My September & October playlist is what I call a “fall“ mood - many of the songs are angsty, dark, and/or spooky.

Anyway, I came across “If We Were Vampires” by Jason Isbell & added it to my playlist.

It’s become one of my favorite songs, &, if I’m in the right mood, the song‘s lyrics can bring me to tears -

“It's not the long flowing dress that you're in
Or the light coming off of your skin
The fragile heart you protected for so long
Or the mercy in your sense of right and wrong
It's not your hands, searching slow in the dark
Or your nails leaving love's watermark
It's not the way you talk me off the roof
Your questions like directions to the truth
It's knowing that this can't go on forever
Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone
Maybe we'll get forty years together
But one day I'll be gone or one day you'll be gone
If we were vampires and death was a joke
We'd go out on the sidewalk and smoke
And laugh at all the lovers and their plans
I wouldn't feel the need to hold your hand
Maybe time running out is a gift
I'll work hard 'til the end of my shift
And give you every second I can find
And hope it isn't me who's left behind

It's knowing that this can't go on forever
Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone
Maybe we'll get forty years together
But one day I'll be gone or one day you'll be gone

It's knowing that this can't go on forever
Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone
Maybe we'll get forty years together
But one day I'll be gone or one day you'll be gone…”

Kiss Me, Sixpence None the Richer. This song was HUGE when dh and I were engaged and was he was called to duty for Kosovo. Always brings me right back to that time.

I can still remember crying as I took off from the airport to go home. Before, the part of the airport with his unit had at least 15-20 military planes all lined up, but when I took off all were gone. It was empty and that's when it hit I didn't know how long he'd be gone. (fyi, it wasn't that long, unlike his deployment after 9/11.)

Not necessarily a religious person, but I attended church for a while with my family because my husband was curious and close friends of ours attended. "Oceans" by Hillsong United gets me every time. I walked down the aisle to the lullaby(instrumental) version. I cannot listen to this song with out getting emotional

I love the relationship between the mom and son here, and their voices are beautiful.

This one reminds me of my kids as they’ve grown up.

Keep in mind
As you head out in that cold
Don't forget to take your coat
TV's sayin snow
Keep in mind
That old car of yours
Ain't no good on slippery roads
And I won't sleep a wink
With you out there all alone

I know those dreams you're tryin' to chase
You want 'em now but they won't wait
Last thing you're thinkin' about
Is slowin' it down
And the ones you left behind
But I'm always thinkin' of you
'Cause when somebody loves you
That's what they do
All of the time

So keep in mind

I'll be waitin on a call
In this little house you grew up in
When your world was safe and small
Ease my mind
With the sound of your voice
Let me know no matter where you are
However far
Your home is still your home

I know those dreams you're tryin' to chase
You want 'em now but they won't wait
Last thing you're thinkin' about
Is slowin' it down
And the ones you left behind
But I'm always thinkin' of you
'Cause when somebody loves you
That's what they do
All of the time

So keep in mind

The family and the friends who prayed
Who cried and watched you drive away
Askin' God to please keep you in mind

I know those dreams you're tryin' to chase
You want 'em now but they won't wait
Last thing you're thinkin' about
Is slowin' it down
And the ones you left behind
But I'm always thinkin' of you
'Cause when somebody loves you
That's what they do
All of the time

So keep in mind

There's angels all around you
Keep in mind
We're always thinkin' about you
Keep in mind
We know you're gonna make it
But before you leave and spread your wings
I hope you take these things
To keep in mind
Keep in mind

My son and I danced to this song at his wedding in a historic ballroom which I can only compare to Beauty and the Best. It was truly a magical moment as I remember looking around the room and everyone in their sparkly, gorgeous gowns and suits was completely still. I cry whenever we hear it (DH has to hold back the tears too).
It's a Wonderful World sung by Louis Armstrong :daisy:

I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom
For me and for you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people going by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
"I love you"
I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Ooh yeah

Songwriters: George David Weiss, George Douglas

I think I’ve mentioned on some of these song threads, I sang this to Jesse (character) one day at Hollywood Studios. She “cried”. My kids were relatively mortified, lol. But it is one of those songs that makes me cry, especially watching Toy Story.

My DD cries every time she hears the Up theme.

This has always been on my small playlist of songs that I played for my grandbaby- who is 7+ now. I bet I played it within the last 2 weeks at bedtime for him.

"Your Heart Will Lead You Home" from the Tigger Movie. When the kids start singing it gets me every time.

ETA: I don't even think I've seen the whole Tigger Movie, but this was played ALL THE TIME on the Disney Channel when it came out.
Yes - love this song!!!
Totally pulls on the heart strings ❤️

"The Next Right Thing" from Frozen 2 made me Ugly Cry.
"Show Yourself" always makes me teary.
"Something's Missing" from Come From Away always gets the waterworks going.
I am not normally a crier, so anything that makes me cry is "unexpected". :rotfl2:

Songs are one of the things that evoke my strongest emotions, ha! From sad to anger to elation - I have so much tied up in music.

"Breathe" by Jonny DIaz is one that makes me SOB so hard - came out at a chaotic, extremely hard time of my life and it just all-encompassed everything. I pretty much breakdown, still, when I hear it

There are SO many - I will link them eventually - just reading through these replies have made me bawl, ha!
