We last went in April of 2005 with my oldest DD who is now 8. Our youngest is going to be 3 next month and we were planning a big family trip in 2010. My brothers DS will be 5 that year and we were basically waiting on that.
I talked to my DW last week about not waiting and going next fall (2008) because the youngest DD would then be 4.5 and that was the age when we took our oldest DD for the first time. It was one of the most magical trips ever. It was a perfect age for her and our family WDW magic was born through the eyes of our DD. We were all kids again. So I wanted our youngest to see that same magic when she hit that age. Agreed the DW and we started planning. We will still make the trip in 2010
This past weekend one of my good friends who has a DS (7) said he was planning on taking him to WDW in June and had not made plans yet. I was worried for him. He and his wife parted ways a couple of years back and the DS lives with her a couple of hours away, so our kids don't play as much as they did a couple of years ago. So I told him I wished my DD and I could go with them and that I could at least help him plan his trip. Well, he started just begging us to go with them. As I sat there and explained all he needed to do (and quick like) he just continued to make suggestions about how great it would be for all of us to go. As I thought about it more I told him I would see what I could do and that I could not guarantee anything....really I was not sure how to ask the DW.
So that evening after work we had dinner and I talked with her about it and she basically thought it was a great idea! I was pumped and began plans immediately. Through our usual agent I had us booked at the WL for the first time for 5 nights (6 days) in June. Tickets on the way for me (Dad) my oldest DD, my good friend and his DS. I am excited and think this trip will have it's own form of magic. It will be a great dad/DD time and it will also be great to experience WDW watching friends with the magical wide eyes.
Always wanted to stay at the WL and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
So much to do before June! The fun has already begun!
