Unexpected crowds?

It could be a convention like mentioned. We are going the 4th-10th and I noticed that Epcot is closing early during one of those days. We were actually planning to go to Epcot on that day but then changed our plans as the park is closing at 3. I've heard they only do that when big conventions are going to be there.

Since that's the 5th, there is probably a press event for the 50th at Epcot that day. Surprising that they're not holding it at the MK.

Sorry, didn't see your question until now. My birthday is the 9th, mother's day of course, the 8th. My anniversary is the 21st.

I'm not telling which birthday though..... ;)

lol am celebrating my birthday at WDW also. my birthday is May 5th lol i was just lucky they picked the start of the celebration to be the same day as my birthday  :earboy2:

We danced around it. My birthday is the 3rd & DW's is the 6th. Don't forget Mother's Day on the 8th!

We're going 5/8-5/14 - POR. Originally booked the first week in May but changed to the second after learning of 50th. I went on line this AM to check rooms at moderates and there were none - All Stars came up as alternate and Old Key West as alternate for Beach Club. I think it is going to be packed. We're not planning on buying passes until we get there and see what the crowds look like. We haven't done Universal lately so will probably go there and just do other non-park Disney events.

Unfortunately when we were there Feb 6 - 12, which is also usually a very slow time, it was absolutely jam packed! The resorts were full and they also added extra EMHs. Good luck to you!

Mother's day weekend, big celebration going on, Flower & Garden on, BUSY tourist year so far.....
ANY holiday weekend is a busy weekend.

I'm going 5/6 - 5/14 and am somewhat concerned about crowds. On a positive note, I decided to fly instead of drive and last night was able to get $39 each way via SWA and using a coupon from Mousesavers, a car rental from National for only $122 incl. taxes for 8 days. I doubt I'd be able to get that good of rates if travel to Orlando was that busy.

Were going May 4-9. I expect bigger crowds than normal for theese dates but not big enough to stop us from having a great time. The countdown is on ! :cool1:

Just a thought but is it possible that Disney would put the press covering their "events" in the moderates?

That is just what my TA said....

The Danskins Triathalon is taking place at Disney World on the weekend of the 14th. According to the web site, the event takes place at the magic Kingdom at 6:30 in the morning, and CSR and a couple of other resorts I can't recall off the top of my head are the official resorts for the athletes. When I was making my reservation (May 10-16) there were less rooms available this week than the week of the 50th Celebration.

That would explain sold out resorts for the first week of May (4,5,6) but not the second week.
And so far, the Disney web site, Expedia, and Travelocity are all still showing availability in all the mod.s for the first week of May. Go figure. :confused3
