I went to Universal Studios when I was 15 and loved it. We did a tour, saw some stunt shows, saw some tv and movie sets (Back to the Future, Psycho house, Murder she Wrote. Knight Rider car), and some other behind the scenes stuff. Really cool.

When I look at the website now, it looks more like it's a place with rides. If we're visiting after Disneyland, then not interested in rides. Would rather do the unique movie stuff as I remembered it.

Is this true? Or do they still have all the movie stuff?

Unfortunately you will be disappointed to hear that there is not 'movie stuff' anymore. I also loved the original layout and infotainment of both Uni and MGM studios in Florida.

That said, both Universal parks today are full-on, legitimate theme park destinations. You will get completely new and different experiences than Disneyland/Disneyworld. Though they are still all 'rides'.
