We are renting a DVC for the first time in 5 weeks! I want to make sure I understand it. We are there for 7 nights, so on the 4th night housekeeping will come and exchange our towels and empty out our trash? They will not however clean out room the entire week unless we pay for it?

We have a washer/dryer so I can wash towels. We have a 1 bedroom so if we want it cleaned it will be $45 per cleaning correct? $20 if we have any other days we just want towels/trash? I just want to make sure I understand correctly!

Also, I assume I will need to buy laundry detergent and dish detergent?

There is a trash room that you can take your trash to.

I've always had enough dish detergent - if you need more ask on trash and towel day.

There is an upright vacuum as well as a broom and dustpan.

If you change your sheets more often then once per week at home, you could pay for a room cleaning, but I've not felt that need. Your mileage may vary.

I bring extra laundry detergent because I like to do the towels to keep dry ones available.

As far as bathroom cleaning, I clean my bathrooms at home once a week or I should say the service does - sufficient for me!

I like not having housekeeping and DVC is set up so you don't really need it unless you just can't get your dishes in the dishwasher yourself or can't pull the covers back up on the bed. My bed does not have to be perfectly made, but some may differ.

At home, laundry and cleaning is a little more detailed. At DVC it is all in a small space so pretty easy.

On the 4th *day* they will come and clean out all the trash cans and exchange all your towels. So if you check in on Sunday, expect them to come on Wednesday some time.

You should have one box of laundry detergent -- if you expect to do more than one load of laundry then you should bring your own. I tend to buy some of those pods things and just bring a couple in a Ziploc bag instead of worrying about powder or liquid spilling all over my packed clothing. (Alternatively, it's $1 for a small box - one use - of laundry detergent from Disney.)

You should have at least enough dishwashing detergent to use the dishwasher once, though usually I get enough for three or four uses. I'm not quite certain, but I think dishwashing detergent can be usually requested from housekeeping at no fee. There's also a small bottle of dish detergent in case you want to hand wash any dishes.

Enjoy your trip!
