Undercover Tourist Demanding I Share Photo of Drivers License or Passport with Plaid Verification

I've never had to provide such info to UCT. Is this a new requirement? Like within the last year?

Interesting. I’ve purchased from Canada many times and never been asked for I.D.

We've purchased from UCT several times over the past 10 or so years, never once asked to provide ID either.

Interesting...UCT is usually our go-to for tickets.

I've never been asked for verification. I don't know if the number of verification requests have increased under the new owners.
Never said you had been. I haven't either. But it def. has occurred with enough people.

You only have to look at the threads a mod attached to this thread of which I remember some of the conversations myself.

I know there's more threads out there but with the name being abbreviated to UT it's probably quite hard to find.

There's a website you can look up although I'm blanking on that right now but it would show you all the times your e-mail address has been hacked. Just about guaranteed you've been part of that. E-mail address may seem harmless but phishing e-mails can be sent there, information obtained, etc.

Paypal just had a breach of customers, T-mobile just had one (a newer one). The paypal one is more grave as people's SSN were part of the information obtained. T-mobile had addresses, name, etc but not pin/password stuff.

Your information is on the dark web have no doubt on that..it just may not be an actual charge to your account..
My password provider tells me when and where all my emails are hacked and anytime a password has appeared on the darkweb
i use Keeper

Undercovertourist was sold the middle of 2022 to EBG. That may be responsible for changes in processing purchases.

There are other Disney ticket resellers. You can purchase tickets directly from Disney. Guests who aren't comfortable with UT practices shouldn't do business with them
Did not start in 2022
another thread shows links going back about 10 years
it’s been very random and infrequent as to who has to show id
which would be why many purchases without any issue
most do
few get flagged
very few considering their numbers sold

I'm glad but I doubt it catches everything nothing catches everything. I personally would never trust a password manager to scour all the times your e-mail address has been taken from the countless things you've entered but that's just me although I looked up Keeper and they do certain other cyberthreats. It was also started in 2011 as far as I can find. Just was pointing out that while you've not had a fraudulent charge other than that one that you've personally found does not mean you haven't had fraud to the point that your sensitive information has been put out there.

The website I was referring to was haveIbeenpwned I looked up mine and have found issues dating back to 2007, including one from Chegg where I rented textbooks back in college. Unfortunately Petflow was another one (where I purchased my cat's water fountain years ago).

It's not about your e-mail address being hacked nor your password. It's about when you've entered your e-mail or phone number actually into something and whether that place of business/entity was then released as far as your information which may include your IP address, physical address, e-mail address, name, etc.

Just tried to buy a Universal promo ticket through UT (who I have used several times before, and within the past year). Got to the identity verification step and decided to go with another authorized ticket seller (and it was 95¢ less on the other site with no extra verification step!) Did check UT's rental price as well, it was quite a bit more than my current Costco reservation. So I think I am done with UT.

I've only used UT for tickets for their refund policy (if I recall, you can return tickets within 365 of purchase, if returned prior to use date) for a 5% fee. But their cost per ticket was never the cheapest I found ... But like many here, if required to give more personal info than my comfort level, I would likely just buy elsewhere. I was in some store the other day that required a scan of my driver's license to pay cash (something under $20 - no, not liquor), I walked out, that was just too weird for me.

^^ I agree. If UT can't figure out what every other website selling something seems to be able to handle without needing personal information, I would shop elsewhere.
