Underage Drinking

I'm 14. there are some kids around here that get drunk but their mostly into drugs.I am glad that I can honestly say I have never been under the influence of anything harmful to my body such as drugs or alchohal (sp). We usually have drug dogs go through the school once a year to check lockers.One day I was on the bus and this boy had a bag of pot.I went to the office and just for the record I'm not a snitch...I told our principal about it and she search him and said he didn't have anything on him.So when we got on the bus that afternoon he was explaining to his "buddies" how he hid it and how he was so cool and everything. But I have no desire to do anything of that matter. I think drinking is wrong and so is drugs. I will never put anything of that matter into my system.In my opinion they should ban alcholhal... but thats just me.

And have another crazy time like the prohibition...I dont think that would be smart. Alchohol will always be around either it be legal or illegal.

My town is all about drinking. It's such a slum. From sophomore year and up, you drink. Seriously. Everyone just wants to get completely sloshed. I'm really not looking forward to future parties. Already I couldn't go to the cast party for the musical I was in because I knew they'd all be drinking.

Honestly, they need to lower the age to 19. It's not stopping anybody, so a lowering in the age might curb some to wait.

Underage Drinking is kind of a weird thing around my area. I'm 14, and I know a girl who is out EVERY weekend with a massive bottle of mixed vodka and coke. I have friends who've got drunk before, and done some pretty ridiculous things. I've been to parties where's there's been alcohol and I've a had one beer at the most. I'm not gonna lie about it either. My parents know that I've had alcohol before, I've had some with them before. I really don't see a problem unless you can't control yourself and stuff gets out of control.

it's like a gun ban. gansters and bad guys will still find a way to get guns illegally... you're only hurting the people who want guns for protection.

i have a friend whose mom told her that if she got drunk at a party to call her and she'd take her to get ice cream... like she's incouraging her 15 year old daughter to get wasted.

Yes i did say they should ban it but i didnt mean it to the extent you think.I mean certain people just shouldn't be allowed to drink , ya know what i mean. like they should ban certain people not everyone. i dont like the the thought of alchohol but its always going to be around whether we like it or not. and yes i know that they have banned it before but it's always a thought,

I have heard of people in my sisters grade (7th) smoking weed. Thats just so young, it's crazy. I mean I really don't care about people smoking or drinking it highschool but those kids aren't all even 13 yet!


Personally, I think the drinking age should be lowered to at least 18. I mean you're an adult, c'mon!

i knew a lot of kids who started smoking at 12/13. a lot of my friends, included.
tbh, weed is a lot less dangerous than alcohol is.


as far as underage drinking goes, i think the drinking age should be lowered. if anything, the drinking age encourages kids to rebel and drink more simply because they aren't supposed to.

everywhere, kids drink. in a lot of countries in europe kids with their familes can drink in public places. i believe that our country should lower the drinking age to 18. when your 18 you can vote, you can join the military and you are leagally emancipated. kids are going to drink, anyway lowering the drinking age would make it seem like its less of a rebellion thing and would be less likley to do irresponsible things.

well I wouldnt think it was an encouragement...I think its more of let me take care of my daughter while she is drunk type thing.

i dont know of any 8th graders drinking (that would be my sisters grade ) but i do know that plenty of people in my grade do and they do drugs and i dont really care. im not doing it and thats all that matters. im still friends with them because it doesnt make them bad people or anything. i was in sadd and i quit partially because i didnt have the time and partially because they all promise there never ever gonna take a sip of alcohol in there lives and i know thats not true for me!

but ya dont drink now... not planning on it any time soon!

that really doesnt last any longer than being drunk.

and it really doesnt effect your body that badly. it can cause some respiratory problems after awhile, but there isn't a connection between weed and cancer like there is between cigarettes and cancer. other than that, smoking marijuana really isnt that bad for you.
it does affect your brain a little bit, like your short term memory (but i think that only applies while you're high, not afterwards)
its has a lot more positive effects on your body and mind than negative.

I think it should be lowered to 18, no doubt about it. If you're old enough to serve your country, go to clubs, buy a lottery ticket...etc you should be able to have a beer.

I know there are little 8th graders in my area who go to parties & get drunk on a regular basis, it's ridiculous. I'm no angel, but I definately did NOT drink at 13 years old or go to parties. I went to my first party in 10th grade, but I really don't see what is so fun about getting drunk, personally I hate the feeling.

smoking anything is unhealthy. however cigarettes are addictive an weed is not. in the long run, cigarettes are way more harmful. the stuff that goes into them to make them addictive is not at all good for you.
at least marijuana is natural.

hookah is horrible for you, i agree w/ you on that.

I wouldn't do drugs or cigerettes. I wouldn't drink at my age cause I'm too young. When I get to that age I will. I wouldn't be some crazy achololic I would be a casual drinker!

It's weird I guess but I've never wanted to drink or do drugs. I've never been in a "peer pressure" situation and I don't know.. I've never seen the appeal. Then again I don't generally do potentially dangerous things for "fun" that often unless you count roller coasters

that's exactly how i feel! plus we watched a video about smoking in 7th grade and after watching a lady speak through a tube in her neck i was possitive i would never smoke. i can't go half an hour without singing or humming something... so to have smoking affect my voice BYY CHOICE is just out of the question!

Weed and alcohol both have pretty equal cons. Weed is way more addictive than alcohol and is almost never used for medical reasons.

I don't drink because I'm not yet 21, and drinking under that age is breaking the law. Also, I can't seem to find any positives for drinking. Alcohol affects the brain every time you drink and does kill brain cells. And brain cells can't grow back, so I think I'll pass. I've seen friends get drunk and wasted and really it's a scary experience that no one really wants to go through. Beer smells too so that's a huge turnoff. And I like being in the right state of mind.
