we're going to Chef Mickey's to celebrate my son's 3rd birthday. But we'll actually be there right before he turns 3, so he will still be 2. Will he be free? (if so, should I bring something to prove it?)

Nope nothing needed to prove it. He will be allowed to eat for free.

Another added note, for those staying on-site you stay the same age when you check in for your whole stay. So if you turn 3 during your trip you're free the whole time for buffets, park entry, etc.

We went to Chef Mickey's on my son's 3rd birthday and he was still free. They don't charge you if your trip starts before their 3rd birthday (or this is what I was told). I had a cake delivered there so they were well aware it was his 3rd birthday.

They go by what ever age you are when you first arrive. That works out perfect for your son. Free park tickets and free food!,!:bday:

Yes! My boys turned 10 two days after we arrived so we paid the kids price the entire trip. It was a significant savings.
