We've never been to a sit-down restaurant with a toddler under 2. Historically we've always enjoyed character buffets and so I never gave much thought to getting milk for them. For our next visit we have a few ADR's at sit down restaurants (BOG, Teppan Edo). We know that she will need to share from our plates but I'm wondering if they will bring milk for her or if we will need to order it separately or even bring it ourselves? Any insight?

I would plan on having to order it or bring it your selves

We went in September when our daughter was just shy of 2. We ate at Whispering Canyon, Hoop Dee Doo, and Biergarten. All three of these places brought her a kid cup of milk and didn't charge us. We were prepared to pay if needed. We were on the dining plan. Whispering Canyon was the only place that isn't buffet/family style.

While most places probably will not charge you, don't be surprised if they do. If you call and ask they will tell you there will be a charge, but that doesn't always happen. When DS was 2, they brought him a hot dog, fries, and juice at 'Ohana and didn't charge us anything, and we had planned on paying for his food. When we brought to our "cousin's" attention, she said not to worry about. We tipped her very well that night, but she was awesome without the pixie dust! I suppose it depends on the restaurant.

We ordered and usually we're not charged but always expected to be.

I find some places charge for drinks for toddlers and others don't. You mentioned that your DD would need to share from your plates, but you are certainly free to order her a meal if you want to do that. Obviously you'd be charged for it, but I sometimes prefer ordering my little one a meal, soup or side of her own rather than having to order something for DH and myself that she can share.

Officially, if you order anything from the menu, including a drink, you will be charged for it. However many places do not add the charge for a beverage.
It isn't expensive.

This might have been because 'Ohana is aycte so it's not something they would have to document on the check and then comp... they just brought it "for the table" and your toddler was the only one who was interested I'm guessing ;) I think it is probably harder at a TS where they have to ring up each meal, although I have certainly heard of it happening there too.

I paid out-of-pocket for a kids meal at BOG because they're not too much, at Cinderella's Royal Table they brought him a drink of his choice at no charge, but nothing else. I've heard of them bringing plates of plain pasta for some infants, but they didn't automatically and I didn't ask. Sharing was a little hard there because the portions were small, he ended up eating at least half of my salmon dish, and some of his brother's food.

True, but hopefully the op has a similar experience

Your child doesn't "need" to share from your plate. You can absolutely order her her own meal. My son will be 18 months old when we go and I will be getting him his own meal when we eat. If he shared off my plate, there would be no food left for me to eat.

I would just order my LO a drink and plan to pay for it. Unless there is a reason for a special beverage, I can't see bringing it into any restaurant. As others have pointed out, the children's meals are very reasonably priced you are not obligated to share from your plate.

Any buffet or AYCE family style will be no charge for LO (neither food nor drink).

Any fixed price meal (such as Akershus and CRT lunches and dinners) will almost certainly not be a charge for drinks for LO. They MAY bring a separate plate of food for LO, but not guaranteed. Problem is there is no way for them to ring up a charge for under 3s. My youngest is 5 now, and when he and his older brother (8 now) were little, they always got their own plate of food at these restaurants for no charge.

Regular menus: Always charge for LO to have their own kids meal (which is basically in the $7-$10 range) and can pay OOP when on DDP.

Normally no charge for LO if they only order their own drinks (but not guaranteed). Reason is there may not be a way to ring up a child's drink separate from a kids meal. But, this would only be $1-$2 OOP.
