Under 12, NOT 10, is a child at all WDW restaurants

I've posted before about the discrepancies in what age is an adult for the WDW restaurants and what Hotwire says. Well, today I got the vouchers in the mail and it clearly states right on the breakfast voucher that a child is 3-9. According to WDW-DINE, that information is incorrect! At all WDW restaurants a child is anyone under 12. I wrote a letter to Hotwire, but needless to say, I got no response! I was duped into paying more than I needed to for our character breakfast for my 10 year old DGD!

I called Hotwire to cancel my membership and asked to speak with a supervisor. I explained about the age discrepancy and my displeasure at having over paid for the ticket. He assured me that the matter would get attention and that I would receive a call back. We'll see.....

I know that is a little bit confusing. I used them for 2 trips and never even realized the kids vouchers said 3-9. I just assumed that since kids at WDW are under 12 that was what the vouchers would be good for. My kids were 11 and 9 at the time.

You can use the voucher as either an excuse to do another character meal (and use the voucher yourself) or sell it on ebay or here on the DIS boards. Then buy you DGD a child voucher.

the vouchers i got from hotwire earlier in the year were disney vouchers( printed by disney) not hotwire vouchers so i don't think that is hotwire, if the age is wrong it's disney... check and see what yours say and they do refund your money within 60 or 90 days ( can't rembember which now but at least they did as of jan) so you may not have a problem

They stopped allowing you to return things within 90 days. Now, each order comes with a little slip of paper that says nonfundable.

Hotwire contacted me today and they are giving me a $7.25 credit - the difference in price between a child and an adult voucher.
The vouchers they sent me say "Walt Disney World" on the front, but WDW does not sell these. Hotwire, as well as other companies, has a contract with Disney to sell them.

This is great news! I would love to treat my family to a Character Breakfast, but the idea of spending nearly $80. for breakfast for 4 people is more than I can wrap my brain around. Knowing that at age 9 & 11, ( next trip) means they will be charged children's prices at the sit down restaurants means I may be able to convince myself to budget it in. I'll just tell myself that I have to do it, because it will be far cheaper than waiting til another trip when they will both be adult prices.

thanks for the update..i won't order now till i am positive we are going to go

I could be wrong( wouldn't be the first time) but supposedly these are made by disney for conventioneers...my point was disney is responsible for the content...if i remember correctly the ones i got last fall had a disney copywrite symbol on them ( i checked since i was paranoid and didn't want to hand one to a wait person & be told they were bogus:o

A child is still considered a child up to 12, and not 12 and over? Correct? I have a 12 year old going next year and I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

A 12 year old is considered an adult. At the restaurants a child is anyone UNDER 12, or up to and including 11 years.
