This will be our third trip with the whole family, (myself, dw, dd age 9, and twin ds age 5). The last two times we have stayed at ASM with 2 rooms. This year we were not planning on going but it is too much fun with the kids not to go. We would like to keep it a lower budget trip so we reserved 8 nights at the Holiday Inn amily Suites for $76 per night. This would be our first time off sight. I would rateher stay on sight but do not want to go broke doing it. The Visa special going on now does not seem to be a great deal. Now I am thinking about splitting the stay and going onsite for the last 3-4 days. The reasonable options for 5 people for this seem to be:

-2 rooms at Pop Century- probably similar to ASM except new
-1 room at POR-how is it for 3 small kids, enough room? atmosphere?
-AKL- only deluxe rooms fit 5-expensive
-Contemporary-location is nice-good for little kids?, not cheap
-Dolphin- $129 Gov. rate- enough room for 5? are there reasonable places to eat? atmosphere for kids?

Any other options? Opinions? Suggestions?

Going Jan 31-Feb 8

Thanks for any help

Have you tried going to disneyworld.com - they will give you an online quote for that Visa package and they also have a feature where you can compare (it puts it in a nice chart).

You'll probably find it will be cheaper to go with one room at POR than it would be for 2 rooms at PC. The atmosphere is really nice and they have a pool that kids will just love! I'm sure there will be enough room for your family because your kids are small.

Enjoy your trip!

I can tell you about the POR - stayed there last fall with our three little ones (twins who were then 7, daughter 6), and let me tell you, it was plenty big enough for us. My kids switched off on the trundle bed because they fought to see who would get it each night, and it easily fit my large son.

Our room was quiet, yet a 60 second walk to the bus stop one way, and a 60 second walk to Boatwrights the other direction! Just perfect all around. The pool was beautiful, and sitting on the covered porch in a rocking chair sipping a glass of wine as a storm rolled in and the ducks took over the pool was my most peaceful moment the whole week!!! It honestly seemed as it we had this old-fashioned resort to ourselves and we went in September. The boat can take you to DD, which was fun, and all in all, if we hadn't gotten such a great deal on the Poly this year, we'd go back in a heartbeat.

Also, not to dissuade you from staying at the HIFI, but it wasn't all that the brochure made it out to be. We stayed there our first night in, and although the pool area was really nice, our room was on the shabby side. You'll see a huge difference from a Disney property. I'm not slamming it, but you do get what you pay for. That said, once you get to the parks, who cares where you sleep!

Have a great vacation and I hoped I helped! Melissa

Go for POR.Make sure you request the rooms with the trundle beds. It's not the same staying off-site.Another suggestion try Dreams Unlimited. They are familiar with all the hotels in and out of Disney and they will keep watching for you after you book to see if they can get you a better deal.

Definitely POR!!! Our 2DS took the other bed while our little DD took the trundle and we had plenty of room. I havent had a bad experience there yet! The pools are awesome, the quiet pools are just that....quiet, and I can sit there, watch the kids and get my laundry done at the same time(yeehah!)Have fun planning!

-2 rooms at Pop Century- probably similar to ASM except new

I agree, probably very similar to ASM. But newer can make it exciting.

-1 room at POR-how is it for 3 small kids, enough room? atmosphere?

The atmosphere is great. The rooms are only a little larger than ASM. If your kids are active it might be a little cramped. But if you don't spend a lot of time in the room or if money is a concern this may be your best option.

-AKL- only deluxe rooms fit 5-expensive

I agree, it's expensive. Unless you really want to stay at AKL there may be better options.

-Contemporary-location is nice-good for little kids?, not cheap

Although not cheap, this is a great resort for kids. Walk to MK, monorail to Epcot. 24 hour food court, Chef Mickey's, a great arcade, etc. Plus, the rooms are huge. Definitely big enough for all 5 of you.

-Dolphin- $129 Gov. rate- enough room for 5? are there reasonable places to eat? atmosphere for kids?

I believe there is enough room for 5 (never stayed there). At $129/night it may be the best deal for your family. A great location--walk to Epcot, boat to MGM. Right near the boardwalk with all it's activities. Plenty of places to eat, including Tibbi's. A great pool, etc.

Good luck and let us know what you pick.
