I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but it is quite frustrating and disheartening and "un"magical! :sad2:

We booked a 7-day Disney cruise for March '07 about a month ago, with insurance. Now, DH found out he has extra time off from work so we've added 3 nights at CBR prior to the cruise - the frustrating part is this...

in order to book the dining option and tickets, we had to make the reservation through Disney Travel, a separate company from DCL, which means we got dinged for ANOTHER 120 bucks for the insurance. My TA said she called Disney and they were not at all helpful - I mean come on! I've now spent ALOT of money with them - and they couldn't bite the 120, or even do a free upgrade to preferred???

Just had to vent - I'm quite irritated with this at the moment - any one had similar situations or suggestions?

I understand your frustration but you said it yourself... They are 2 totally seperate companies.

I know :confused3 And it obviously did not stop me from booking - I'm still on a high and it's 6 months away!

For future reference, before buying trip insurance from any tour company/cruiseline, log onto insuremytrip.com. Most of the time you can get insurance cheaper on your own. Then once you have the policy, you should be able to make some changes, like length of trip, trip cost, etc. on your own. You will have to pay, but it my be cheaper to upgrade than to get another insurance policy altogether.

Why do you need travel insurance for three days of a hotel stay?

You're paying $120 just in case something stops you from staying at CBR for three days? I think that's not a good choice.

CBR is maybe costing you about $450. You're paying roughly one-third of the value of the insured "property." That would be like paying $100,000 a year in insurance on a $300,000 house ... just an illustration to show you that, in my opinion, the travel insurance for your 3-day CBR stay is a bad bet.

Remember, you are permitted to refuse the travel insurance, you don't need to take it and pay for it.

And by the way, Disney recently changed their policy regarding cancellations due to hurricanes (in the customers' favor), so if hurricanes was one of your insurance-related concerns then that makes the insurance even less attractive for your purposes.

GOOD LUCK!

True - I was thinking of the dining plan and park tickets - which to me made the insurance worth it - but you've certainly given me something to think about.
