Unborrowing 2015 points and converting to cash - possible?

Quick question before I call MS:

We are scheduled for a 9 night vacation next June, which uses all of our 2013 and 2014 points, except for 2 points.

I'd like to add one night onto our reservation, which will cost me 21 points. In the end, I'd like to use the 2 points we have left for 2014, and then "rent" the remaining 19 points I need @ $15 per point directly from Disney.

I called MS today to do this, but I was told I couldn't rent those points until I was at the 7 month window.

Since we're staying at VGF (our home resort) and it's bound to be competitive to get in there at the 7 month window, I'm wondering if it's possible to reserve that night now borrowing the 19 points from 2015, and then call at the 7 month window and put those 19 points back into my 2015 stash and pay Disney for the 19 points? Is that possible?

Borrowing is a final process. You cannot "unborrow" points. If you were not past your banking deadline, you could bank 19 2014 points into 2015.

Once you borrow you can't put the points back. So your choice is to borrow and have less in 2015 or wait till 7 months for that room. You can't do both.

Nope. Not possible. Like Deb said, you cannot unborrow points. And they won't you reallocate non-home resort points (which the OTU points are from Disney) into a reservation made during the home-resort booking window.

Right from the MS website:

• One-time-use vacation points cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.

I think that would apply to your scheme of borrowing and switching at 7 months to One Time Use Points.

And I doubt your borrowed points could be returned. See the quote below.

From the Home Resort Rules and Regulations:
Once Borrowed, Home Resort Vacation Points cannot be returned to their original Use Year and will expire if not used by the end of the Use Year into which they were Borrowed, except that in the event Club Members purchase an additional Ownership Interest after Borrowing Home Resort Vacation Points, Club Members may substitute newly allocated Home Resort Vacation Points of a current Use Year for the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points that were used toward a future reservation and the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points will be returned to their original Use Year.

I do not think OTUPs constitute as a purchase of additional ownership interest (adding on).

Boo. I guess we'll see how lucky I get at 7 months, or perhaps that'll give me a good excuse to add a few nights on cash at another resort since we love our split stays so much... ;)

You can not unborrow the points. However, if, at 7 months, the end night or the beginning night is available, you should be able to book it using the one time use points at that time, and then cancel one of the nights you made with your current 2014 UY points, and bank them, providing you are still in your banking window.

It's not quite the same, but at least you'd be putting back some points into your 2015 UY. IMO, I'd just borrow for now, call at 7 months, and if it can't be booked, worry about being "short" during another trip!

Good luck!
