Unbellievable! A FIGHT at WalMart!

I also saw a fight at target 2 years ago. Managers broke it up and then the 2 women ran into each other in the toy area and started up again. They ended up calling the police on them....what made it even worse was they both had little kids with them....GREAT example.

I would rather spend the extra money than deal with all the crazies black friday brings out. I'd rather stay home and decorate the house....puts me more in the holiday mood than watching grown adults fist fight over the last sale item. Good luck too all those who ventured out!

WOW, that's unbelievable! :sad2:

Overstock.com has $1.00 shipping this weekend, I just bought 3 items, it was nice and relaxing. :cloud9:

I may venture out at some point this weekend, but no way would I go out early this a.m. for bargains. There is nothing I need that badly for me to go out so early!

I don't place the sole blame on the customers. Walmart, and stores like them, have 30 items in stock for a sale they know will be popular just to get people INTO the store and figuring once they are there they'll settle for another more expensive item. The "limited quatities" disclaimer may get them off the hook "legally" for bait & switch, but it is irresponsible retailing. Knowing that there were fights and injuries at a Wal-mart last year should leave them open to a neglience law suit for crowd control. They could have issued numbers to folks outside (1 to 30) for the laptops and avoided the melee.

I don't blame the store, the people should know better how to act and control them selves, (sp?) get in to a fight over merchandise come on!! My SIL called me this morning she was at target in Houston and she was hit by a "lady" over some kids clothes. I don't thinks is the store fault that people are stupid.

There was rioting at a Walmart here this morning, they gave out vouchers for the cheap laptops, but once the doors opened, it was every man for himself...apparently no one inside was aware of the situation and sold them first come-first serve. So, then the people who had vouchers and didn't get computers got mad, then the people who showed up and didn't know you had to have a voucher got mad, then it was chaos from then on out.

Bah humbug. I'm glad I'm at work.

I made the mistake of going to Kohl's for a few things... they have advertised all their specials so much that I finally felt I had to be there for the "early bird specials" (this means 10:30 am in my household, not 5!)
Parking lot is fine... store shopping is a little crowded, but THE CHECK OUT LINE WAIT WAS OVER 2 HOURS!!! WTH?
They only have about 6 cash registers.
I put my items back and left!

Someone should have thought this one out a little better... wouldn't surprise me if a fight does break out, but in the check out line!

The store I went to only had 8 registers. That is all that exists in the store. I don't fault the retailer. They cannot build the store for the demand of one day.

This is why I shop early if at all on Black Friday. Got out at 5am, got back at 9am....JC Penney's for snow globes, Target, Kohl's, then Old Navy.

As for the electronics--all this stuff is no-name, unknown brand stuff that will break. My brother 3 years in a row was given the same dvd player and without fail, it breaks every year. My mom finally figured it out--she was buying cheap junk that was indeed cheap junk. I would never ever go on an electronics frenzy on black friday--it just isn't worth the hassle.

I had 2 things to get at Best Buy this morning of course the laptop (did not get no biggie) and a recordable DVD player for 99.00 (big savings) it was so organized they handed out vouchers and blocked off the sections that had the places with the big savings (like the computer section, camera section) It was actually real nice and worth my time.

Then I even went on to hit other places and that went well also. I was a bit shocked and I hate shopping.

I don't know how folks can NOT hold the store partially responsible given that there is already an established history with these sort of things at Wal-Mart. Last year some folks were hospitalized after this sort of nonsense, and STILL they advertise "limited quantity" items, fling the doors open for first come, first serve melee rather than handing out vouchers to those in line.

Those amazing prices , while quantities last (30 items only?) are only ther to pull people in. I dont think it is being lucky to be able to grab one of these items. The lost sleep , staying in the cold , stress of rushing to the right department. I f we are crazy enough to go through all that for a "bargain" , consummerisim as really gone astray.

Isn't that so sad that people would do such a thing?? And people wonder why others don't have the "holiday spirit!" I agree....no sale is worth that type of behavior.

People are just plain rude anymore. After having produce practically ripped out of my hands at Safeway this Thanksgiving, I'll take duck and cover until the season is over.

I don't like Walmart anyway, so staying away from it won't hurt my feelings at all. :teeth:

You couldn't pay me enough to go shopping today. I have little patience for store crowds on normal days!

Myst

ITA!

I think Black Friday is completely insane! What's the point? The stores get the people in there, but they're all going in for the cheap stuff, which runs out in no time! I wonder how many people actually stay and browse and spend more money vs those who leave without browsing once they got what they came for, or leave in disgust if they didn't!

At DH's store, they have 40!!!!cash registers open today and at least 10 during the week, with the ability to increase to 40 on the weekends if they need it. :)

I remember last year, some mall shoppers were upset their cars were towed after parking in a 'no parking zone' at a shop behind the mall parking lot. The shop owner didn't want mall shoppers parking there and there was a no parkinig sign. They parked there anyway and got mad when they were towed away.

Their theory as to WHY they could park there?"Well, isn't it all part of mall parking anyway? We're shoppers so we PAY for this parking lot. We should be able to park any where we want!"

Not in a no parking zone you can't,buddy.

I worked in retail today and boy was it busy :( Our store wasn't to open til 7 am but due to the huge line they opened at 6:45. It was mass chaos the first couple of hours but right around lunch it finally died down.

We thought about going to JCPenney for the snowglobes, but we weren't sure what they were and didn't know if it was worth getting up early if they were just some little dinky keychain size thing. Were you able to see a picture beforehand? I looked on www.jcpenney.com and didn't see anything. Do you know of a place with a pic to them? Thanks and Congrats :)

I don't know if I even would have done that! :rolleyes1

Sorry....but that seems to be a huge lack of organization on their part. I've noticed that Kohl's doesn't have as many registers as other stores but They could set up additional kiosk's for the holiday rush. I bet that they lost quite a bit of business because people didn't want to wait in line. I wouldn't stand in line for 2 hours for much of anything - clearance or not! What good is their great doorbuster price if people don't stay to actually "purchase" the items? :confused3

That's weird! The Kohl's I worked at for 5 years has 18 checkout registers, plus 3 for the customer service desk (where you can also check out). Yes, I'm sure of the 18 because I did their cash office for 3.5+ years.

They do set up kiosks for after Christmas returns.
