They just announced the Powerball winners here and did the check presentation. 8 coworkers at a Conagra Food Plant. What's unbelievable is that 3 of the 8 went to work on the night sift last night and got off work at 6:30 this morning. If you were picking up a check for $22.1 million (approx. $15 million after taxes) this morning, would you have gone into work last night?

no way - I wouldnt be there. But maybe they were good people who knew that their abscence would cause hardship for others. Or maybe they just liked having the thrill of such a tremendous secret. Either way - it sounds like people who could really use it won. Im always happy when hard working people win.

I would. I would need to have the money in my bank account first. Also it may take awhile to get $$$, that is something to consider.

What happened to the guy who called in from Colorado ~ or some other state ~ claiming he had the winning ticket...he had bought it passing through on a business trip?????

Guess he was wrong.

I guess if I ever win I'll find out what I'd do. :scratchin

heck no!

and btw, that money was supposed to be mine! :(

I think its clever that they have hats and sunglasses on..I thought it was odd at first but they are at least trying to keep themselves "hidden" how good it will work who knows.

There was a great story in New York about a guy working in an auto factory who won the lottery and went to work the next day. When his forman starts getting on his case as usual, he says nothing but picks up his toolbox and starts slooowly walking out of the plant. Well, the forman goes bonkers and starts screaming at the guy as he leaves. "You better get back to your station, you hear me? If you don't get back right now, you are suspended AND fired. You are in so much trouble mister. This is your last warning! DO YOU HERE ME?????" etc.

Man, that must have been almost as much fun as seeing the winning numbers themselves.

A little bit of denial. I bet that they did not believe that they truly won until that check is in their hands. Probably thought up many scenerios of what would go wrong and they still wanted to make sure they had a job.

Oooohhh, another thought. Did not want anyone to know they won, especially a spouse or SO, so they could runaway today and not share.

My fantasy is to win a big lottery jackpot and appear on TV the very next morning. As I take the check into my hot little hands, I turn and wave to the TV cameras. My first statement: "This is my resignation notice, boss!" :teeth: (Of course, you gotta play to win and I don't play enough to win. :( )

They actually received checks today, but I agree with you I'd probably not believe it until the check cleared. Even then, I would probably be checking with the bank every hour or so to make sure it's still there. Heck, I'll probably be bruised from repeatedly pinching myself to see if I was dreaming...

Since my full time job is Mom, I guess my answer is - yes I would have gone to work at 6 am this morning same as always!

I think I'd feel obligated to at least get things organized and help out my asst. who would probably take my place...but only for a couple weeks and I'd come in when I felt like it! :cool1:

winning the lottery doesn't give you medical benefits!
hehehe
I'd still go to work...maybe not THIS job...but I'd still work.

Heck NO!

I said for YEARS if I won the lottery I'd send in a big, pink, fuzzy gorilla singing telegram to announce : " I QUUUUIIIITTT!!! ! ! !" :teeth:

Guess they were trying to "lay low". I would definitely make sure the $ was really mine first. They also may be concerned about their benefits - especially health insurance. OK - I'm being annaul.

I'm self-employed so I would finish the projects I have on my desk and not accept another job -even from my regular customers. Then, oh boy - let the PARTY BEGIN!!!!!

That's Funny!!! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I would probably come in to work, to at least tell my company face to face that I was leaving. And to say my goodbyes.

However, if I worked at a place that I disliked, or worked for a boss that I disliked.......then it's no holds barred. And I might have to steal the pink, fuzzy gorilla idea!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I worked with a girl who won the lottery, but didn't know her well. She happened to be seeing a therapist who recommended that she keep working and change her life slowly. She did buy an expensive car, which kept the water cooler people hopping, but we didn't find out about the lottery until she finally quit. (about a year later)
