My son's school does a fund raiser where you can buy unbaked, sugar cookie cut-out Christmas cookies. Mulitple shapes star, tree, snowman, for $4 per dozen. I know that's pricey, but I am actually thinking about trying some this year to save time and stress. I would just need to bake and frost them. My family loves Christmas cookies, but does not like to help make them.
Delivery of the cookies would be December 4th. I usually don't make cookies that far ahead of time or they will be long gone before Christmas. How long could I store these unbaked cookies in the fridge? Our freezer is super small, so not much would fit in there, but can I freeze the unbaked cookies? If I bake them first, they will get eaten (DH is a terrible cookie monster).

Thanks for any help!

Every year our County mental health center sells pre-cut Pillsbury cookies as a fundraiser. You have to buy a case at a time (288 cookies), that are a mix of stars, trees, and snowmen for $42.00 I split a case every year with my mom. I love them!!! I just take what I feel like making out of the freezer at a time. When those run out, I take out more and bake them!

I buy the Market Day ones each year for all the holidays and it saves me a ton of time. We bake and decorate. They are very good.

You definitely could freeze the unbaked cookies. Just to make sure they are in a freezer-proof container - i.e. put them in a freezer ziplock bag.My gues is they'll have directionsto bake them from frozen, when I've purchased these in the past you put them on the cookie sheet for 5-10 minutes before baking.

Have fun - all the fun, with a lot less mess!

They probably would not last in the fridge for a long time - when are you planning on baking them? It may say on the packaging, but I imagine they would be fine for a couple weeks. i have tried to keep sugar cookie dough longer, but it got moldy and tasted "stale"

Not sure how they are packed but if possible maybe you could consolidate them into a smaller package that would fit in your freezer when they get in?

Your fundraiser paperwork should give you some answers. If not call the volunteer in charge and ask.

I'm willing to bet that if it's delivered to you around 12/4 and is refrigerated unopened you would have a couple months before you would need to cook or freeze it. I'm certain that the fundraiser delivery was timed for that.

The open pack of Pillsbury Chocolate chip cookies in my frig was purchased about a month ago and the package says use or freeze by 11/27. It doesn't specify how long you can refrigerate once you open it.

Good luck!

Thanks for all your help. We are definitely going to give it a try this year. I can always bake some right away and freeze the rest for a couple weeks. I feel less stressed already : ) One job made that much easier. Thank you!
