Unannounced theme park extended hours

Do they still do this? Our last visit, I was in a Frontierland gift shop close to normal park published closing hours and the CM told me, don't rush, they will be extending the hours today, and they did. I got the impression it was done with some frequency. But, we haven't been down there since 2015, and we are doing planning for our trip in two months, so was wondering if they still do this at some of the parks.

I had this happen once in 2019 when a freak storm knocked out power to all of HS about 90 minutes before close. They only got the rides back running about 5 minutes before close, but did keep them open an extra 30 minutes until the Star Wars fireworks were scheduled to start.

I believe that is the exception under extreme, extenuating circumstances, not a common occurrence.

I remember this happening several years ago but I have not seen it in a long time.

Definitely not a regular occurrence.

It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's normally only the Magic Kingdom.

I had it happen once in MK. We hopped there to watch the fireworks and it was sooooooo crowded that day. They came on the loudspeaker to say to stick around after fireworks because park would be open an extra hour past the posted time. I wondered it if may have been crowd control—they didn’t want everyone rushing the transportation all at once.
