DS 16 will only eat very plain food and no veggies or fancy food. I would like to try signature dining but I can not find a restaurant where he will eat anything on the adult menu. ANy ideas ?

bumpimg - any way he can get a simple starter like soup with steak /filet mignon and mashed potatoes ? any feedback from parents of teens just not into fine dining ? een our dds age 8 and 9 are more adenturous...

Have you looked at www.allearsnet.com ? They have all of the restaurant menu's. I know that at Jiko they have a great filet mignon that comes with macaroni & cheese. Also, California Grill has another filet (yes, my favorite! :teeth: ) that comes with a potato side dish (usually it's more like au-grautin potatoes). Neither of these dishes are scary! :goodvibes

Even the filet at Jiko has a red wine sauce that some picky eaters won't like. Having said that, Disney's full-service restaurants are great at accommodating almost any special request you may have for adjusting (especially toning down) any of their menu choices. That is doubly-true of the signature restaurants.

I would think Yachtsman Steakhouse would be ok for your son. It's a steak place. I'm sure you could order a plain filet. I didn't find the menu to be overly adventurous and the food is delicious.

It's never a problem to have them keep the sauce off the steak, so no worries about that. If he will eat a steak, he can eat at pretty much any of the signature restaurants--just ask for it plain. I do it for my 9yo dd all the time. You could also order a childrens meal (if there is something he likes) for one of your younger children, and perhaps they could eat something off of the adult menu (since you said they are more adventurous) so they could switch meals.

One other option of course, is to simply have him eat something else either before or after the rest of you eat.

Or, why not let the 16 year old go off exploring on his own for a couple hours while you and hubby enjoy a nice dinner alone. Let him grab a quick food burger or chicken tenders and ride a few rides, or go into the arcade and play at the resort you are dining at if you don't trust him to be off on his own.

Ours used to love their time alone to do disney they way they see it, and we loved it to.

Yachtsman Steakhouse would be an excellent choice. Fine restautants will usually change the sides, leave off seasonings .. anything he would want. Flying Fish has a very good steak, too.

But .. the idea above is a good one! You could dine at Flying Fish and he could have a burger and enjoy the arcade at ESPN, for instance.
