Questions about the UMP for DVC owners. We usually get these and have always been able to drop off check in/out days.
What if you have people coming to stay with you for only a partial visit????? People ask me this and I never really know what to say!

Can they get UMP with you for only the part of the trip they will be there for????

Thanks!!!

I don't think that will be allowed. UPH passes are for the length of stay for the reservation- with the possible exception of first and/or last days. If they allow mid trip passes to be purchased, it changes the entire intent of the pass.

It sure can't hurt to ask, but don't be surprised if it's not allowed.

Good Luck!

And technically changing rooms, unit size or the way the room is paid for (cash vs points) is all one stay as long as it's the same resort. While they might not catch it and allow you to get by that way, they are not supposed to. Of course checking out then waiting for another unit would be a pain and not worth it. Besides, unless hey are Kamakaze vacationers, there are other options likely as cheap or cheaper.

I'm a little confused. Sorry.

We are getting UMP/UPH for the entire length of OUR stay, minus the first day...which is what we usually do.
But, two other people are coming over to stay with us for 3 days in the middle of our stay. We will already have tickets. Can we get them tickets for the part of the stay they are there for??? Has anyone done this???

Thanks!

You will not be able to get UMP for them for part of the stay.

when you get UMP's everyone in the party must get them for the whole stay(minus 1st or last day)We had a situation where My mom and sister were only staying the first three days of our 6 day stay and they could not get the UMP and we could not unless they did. The only exception would be if anyone in the party has an AP, the others can get UMPs , but for the entire length. Sorry !

While that's generally true, it does not apply or at least has not been routinely applied to DVC. You must get them the entire stay but non everyone must get them. I don't recall hearing of DVC requiring members to probe they had an AP for other to ge the pass.

In December, 2001 we were staying at VWL using DVC points. Our DD, DS-I-L, DD-I-L, DS and our grandchildren (ages 6, 5, 3, and 1) were sharing a 2 BR villa. Our DS-I-Ls was the only one with an UMP. Everyone else with us had APs except the one year old. His room key got demagnetized and he needed to have it replaced. Because he was the only one in the group that had an UMP, they required him to bring all of the other room keys down to the registration desk before they would reissue his with the UMP on it. It was somewhat time consuming for everyone. None of us have used UMPs since. IMHO, and as Dean said, there probably are better ticket choices anyway. My guess is Disney must have experienced some guests abusing the system somehow and have strange rules (at least to my way of thinking) about obtaining and using them.

That was when VWL was very new, more likely they just weren't accustomed to dealing with DVC. If you look at the rules for the UMP for DVC, there is the requirement for entire LOS but NO requirement for the entire party. This is different than the regular WDW requirements. The stay must be at a DVC property and must be using points.

Does anyone know the cost for varying lengths of stay or a link to find the cost with the discount? Thanks

I'm curious - why would a one-year old have a UMP? Or any ticket for that matter.

Called MS and called WDW and told them the situation....they said to ask at the front desk and we MAY be accomodated.....
so we will see! At least it isn't a flat out NO!:sunny:
