My friend at work was talking to me about going to Disney and hating it! :faint: I told her, it's not for everyone. She then shared with me about going to King's Island in Ohio and how she LOVED it. I'm checking out the rides and oh my gosh!!! :scared1:

This one is called
Diamondback
The tallest, fastest and meanest roller coaster to ever strike Kings Island! The 230-foot tall steel monster reaches speeds up to 80 miles per hour!

As my 3 year old son says, "No, thank you!"

Check out some of the other Thrill Rides! EEK! THRILL RIDES AT KING'S ISLAND PARK

Well I love roller coasters, but I would choose Disney over any other amusment/theme park hands down

Okay, you love coasters...how bout THIS one:

They'd have to carry me out of King's Island if I attempted one of the two coasters I showed you. :faint: I'm telling ya...check out the link in my first post....and brace yourself! :lmao:

We prefer Cedar Point over King's Island IF we are wanting roller coasters (I'm a coaster lover)

But we will always choose Disney over anywhere else if given the choice. We are from Ohio so when the budget doesn't allow Disney, we stick close to home.

Disney is not everybody's cup of tea. Just think - it is one less family in the park while you are there.

I'd love it if Disney added some true thrill rides...let's face it, even their roller coasters are kid friendly.
But even though I would love rides like the ones at KI, the experience at their park could not rival all the warm fuzzies that Disney has learned to create. :lovestruc

Diamondback looks awesome, we have a similar coaster from the same company at our local park and it is one of my favorite coasters I have ridden.

As much as I am a thrillseeker and like coasters like that, one reason I like Disney is that there is something for everyone to ride unlike my local Six Flags that has a lot of coasters that are amazing but has literally no rides for some people in my family.

As for the 2nd coaster pictured, the reason I find it scary is because that coaster model is a lemon. A clone of it in California had riders stuck on the lifthill for 5 hours among other breakdowns and another clone of the ride in Maryland had so many problems it was removed. My other local park is going to be receiving the ride from the California park and I am less than thrilled.

People like what they like, not everything is for everyone.I love pretty much love every theme/amusement/water park out there.Living in South Florida I obviously go to Disney and all the other Florida parks very often, but I've also gone to Six Flags parks in other states,I've driven the 24 hour drive to Cedar Point several times because I love coasters. With that said I think one of my favorite parks all time is Busch Gardens in Williamsburg because of the combination of great coasters, beautiful European theme along with a beautiful location full of trees and hills. For comparison I've been to some Six Flags parks that just have little to no theme, little shade and build their coasters over parking lots where you still see the parking space lines, even if I liked the coaster the park itself just doesn't leave a memorable impression making me want to come back.

I have been to both several times and I would never even think to compare them! I love roller coasters (even some that you have pictured) but I have always thought of King's Island as a day trip type place, but Disney World... that is a VACATION! Oh, well I think that all the people who don't like WDW just mean one less person in line in front of us, right? :rotfl:

We live about 30 minutes away from Kings island and I have riden the Dimond Back several times. It is one of the best roller coasters that I have been on. You actually feel weightless 3 or 4 times during the ride.

The problem with going to a park like Kings Island is that it is small compared to WDW. And if you go as much as we do you start to get bored.

:thumbsup2 I agree. If you are looking for coasters Cedar Point is the best! Cedar Fair the parent company of Cedar Point also now owns Kings Island, so some coaster fans will get a season pass that covers both parks and do both.

From ages 6 - 45 Cedar Point was my favorite park to go too. I do love coasters.

Now that I'm 50 my very favorite park is SeaWorld, followed by the Disney parks (love the Disney vibe), then CP, then Busch Gardens. I'm not a big fan for some reason of the Universal parks and I hate Six Flags parks (I always compare them to Cedar Point and they come up so short that I don't even want to go). I haven't seen WWHP yet, and will have to get to IOA just to see this. As I've gotten older I appreciate the beatiful landscaping and great feeling I get at SeaWorld/Disney and like doing shows mixed with a few thrill rides vs. straight thrill rides. CP, though, is not off my radar at all. I'm going to Orlando a week from today and going to CP in June.

The Brady kids made King's Island look sooo fun running all over to find Mr. Brady's plans instead of that Yogi Bear poster. :lmao: Classic!

Yikes! For me it isn't being scared of riding the coasters like that....for some reason I get a headache and feel dizzy after getting off. I never used to be that way?
I must admit that we will be cheating on WDW this trip and heading over to US/IOA for a day. DS wants to ride Hulk and every other coaster....I don't know if I will be able to do them with him. BUMMER!

maybe being a half hour away from kings island ruins the magic for me... but the lines are longer than wdw, the food/drinks are more expensive and it's a go-go-go type thing with thrill rides and not much relaxation. i'll probably go once for my company summer picnic because its free :) the water park has a couple good rides, but is pretty gross compared to my beloved typhoon lagoon :goodvibes

we love to get away, relax and enjoy wdw. we love thrill rides, but we like a nice mix in between. we'll stick with wdw.

HAHAAH.. :rotfl:

Anyway, it's comparing apples to oranges. I hate when people refer to Disney World as "just another amusement park". First, I want to say, which park do you actually mean? MK, AK, E, HS? And which of those places is like an amusement park? uggh.

I love amusement parks. But they are different from Disney. BIG different.

Comparing amusement parks to WDW is comparing apples and oranges. Some just don't get it, judging from the crowds at WdW, many do!

I don't even understand how anyone could compare Kings Island to WDW. Makes no sense, sorry. I would have looked at her like she was crazy. Each is great in it's own way, but nothing alike.

Well if she is so into thrill rides that disney is tame we could duct tape her to the front of monorail blue for an half hour and let he make a few trips to EPCOT. You don't get weightless but the view is spectacular.
