Ummm.... gay week in Oct/Nov???

A friend of ours said that her sister/her sister's partner were going down Halloween through the end of the 1st week in November for gay/lesbian week in WDW. I thought gay days were in June.
We're supposed to be down that week, with our family... is this true????

Haven't heard of it, and.. based on what a friend told me after visiting in early June (just after the gay day/week).... I personally am not too concerned about it - even if our trip was scheduled a week later (same as yours).

GayDay is in June at WDW, I've never heard of anything in November. There is a private ticket event at DisneyLAND in October, I think.

Here's what is on the Gray and Gay website:

Following last year's successful event which attracted over 20,000 gays and lesbians from California and all over the country, the Gay Days at [font=Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif][font=Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif]Disneyland[/font][/font] this year will be held Friday, September 30-Sunday, October 2. (This was 2005)

According to the Gaydays2 website the dates for 2006 are Oct. 6 - 8, 2006.

This is DisneyLAND not WDW.

We can't remember a single day on all our trips to WDW, at various times of the year, when we were not all gay. Except on the day we leave, of course.

I was at WDW one year and happened to be at the MK on Gay Day. Never again will I do the same. I was unaware that there was even such an event. I have nothing against homosexuals but the crowds were unbearable. Many had banners, which were difficult to get around because they walked in masses. I'm not just talking about poster boards, I am talking about the long banners used in parades. Also, included in gay day are not just gay and lesbians but also trangender individuals. My younger sister had many questions when we got back to the hotel. So be ready to answer questions if you have younger ones who are unfamiliar with the variety of lifestyles. If it weren't for the enormous crowds and banners it would have been fine.

A buddy of mine that attends the Particular week every June told me not to take my family. Not that I care about the stuff, live and let live I always say, but he said, and I quote, "Man we can get a little crazy at times, nothing really over the top but maybe kids should not see some of the partying that goes on at DTD or at some of the water parks" My reply was, I don't take my kids to DTD near the pubs on Plearure Island and for some strange reason my kids don't really like water parks. I wouldn't worry about the gay community down there, they enjoy it and I've never heard of a violent rampage of a group of gays reaping death and destruction in WDW. Plus my buddy that is gay is a cop and a nice guy and I don't worry about him with my wife.

Okay, I agree with you

The answers are:

Gay Days (NOT sponsored by Disney) are the first week/weekend in June at Walt Disney World/Universal Studios in Orlando.
Gay Days (again, NOT sponsored by Disney) are at the end of September/beginning of October at DisneyLand in Anaheim.
Gay people by the hundreds live normal, everyday lives in both locations - and work for the theme parks. The ratio is probably higher than in other parts of the country.

I took my DS 6 in June during the middle of Gay Days. We had no issues and except for a couple of funny monorail rides would not have noticed the difference. You are at Disney.

Not to keep up with the OT conversation, but we go often during the first week of June and have NEVER had a problem. We find the crowds to be manageable, and have never witnessed anything that has made us uncomfortable. It was a time with good weather, nice sized crowds and magical times!

I would take my family to disney on gay day or week anytime. I much rather my children learn about liking all kinds of people. I would rather my kids saw gay people, then people beating their kids, or screaming at their wife.

Im not accusing you of lying... but perhaps it's lessened up... we were there just last year for Gay Day in the MK...

I couldnt have wished for a less crowded Saturday, in the beginning of June - ever! Maybe cuz of all the hype, people stay away - but I'd go back in a heartbeat....not crowded at all!

Banners? I've been going to Gay Day for several years and have never seen a "banner" of any kind...in fact, I doubt they are allowed, they would be a safety hazard.

Are we from Jersey really that bad? Sure we may talk funny at times but "The Sopranos" is not the reality of Jersey, it's not far off but not all true. How true can it be when the shoot the Italian American Deli shots in front of the Irish American Club in Kearny N.J.. I have to agree with Chuck S, I can't see them letting people in with banners no matter what it said, safety issue and if one does it all should be allowed so exclude all from doing it. I do agree tho, I took my family last year during "Jersey Week" and it was crowded, but really only for 2 of our 8 day stay, darn Jerseyans! OH! I'm one of them!

okay well this was in 2000 and maybe they have lessened up on crowds or whatever, but that's what I saw. It was an inconvenience me but may not have been for others
