I need clarification of the following statement in regards to the purchase of the DVC members Ultimate Park Hopper Discounted Tickets?

"Offer available only to Members staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort."

My wife and I are bringing our kids and grandkids to the BCV in November. We have multiple rooms and intend on purchasing the Ultimate Park Hopper discounted ticket. Since my wife and I are the members are the tickets only available to us or to anyone (kids and grandkids) staying in booked DVC rooms? All the rooms are booked in our name (members) but non members (family) are staying in the other rooms. If the “family” rooms are allowed to purchase UPH/LOS tickets, must they be put on my credit card being that the rooms are in my name and I am a member, or can the families put them on their own cards?

Someone must have had the same type of experience.

The UPH with DVC discount may be purchased by your guests as well. They can even pay for it themselves. :smooth:

If there is any question, just plan to be nearby when they purchase the tickets, but there shouldn't be any question.

Enjoy!

When and where can you purchase them? And is there a price list so I can compare them to park hoppers? I always figures that UPH was not worth it since it's use it or lose it, but with a discount maybe it is.

We have <a href="http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm">WDW Ticket </a> information here on the DIS. Just be sure to deduct the 10% DVC discount. The discounted tickets may only be purchased at the resort- they are not available with advance purchase. DVC members are able to drop first/last days from the tickets- reducing the cost a little more if you won't use those days.

Enjoy!

DOC - On the price comparison charts on WDW Tickets it shows the Ultimate Park Hoppers as having a “Gate” and “Advance” price. Is the following example correct using the 8 day 7 night “Gate” price, including taxes? $381.27 (adult) and $305.66 (child) whereas the “Advanced” price is $365.30 and $291.81. If I use the Gate price and reduce it by the DVC 10% teh adult price would be $343.14 or a savings of $38.13 over the “Gate” price or $22.16 less than the “Advanced” price.

7 night/8 days Gate $381.27 $305.66 Adv. $365.30 $291.81

Second part – Can I take both the arrival and departing days be taken off the price or only one or the other?

I'm not Doc, but I can tell you that your calculations are correct. The discount is off the gate price. As Doc said, the DVC discount is not available with advance purchase. In fact, my understanding is that DVC members cannot purchase UPH tickets in advance if they are staying on points.

The answer to your second question is "depends on the CM". My understanding is that they are supposed to only drop the day of arrival or the day of depature, but not both. However, this must be entirely within their discretion. I've not read any posts here that the DVC CMs ever have a problem with dropping both if the guest so requests. I'm quite sure that you will be able to drop both if that is what you want to do. In that case, with the DVC discount, your UPH tickets would cost $280.85 (adult) and $225.25 (child).

Figured as follows: 5 nights/6 days adult is $312.05. Subtracting 10% leaves you with a final price (including tax) of $280.85

Enjoy your trip!

Carol –I just took another look

Looking at the 7 Day Park Hopper vs. the 6 night 7 day LOS ticket, it is to my advantage to purchase the Park Hopper even without the 10% DVC discount…if I have calculated it correctly.

6 night 7 day adult price $346.13 – DVC 10% discount ($34.61) = $311.52 vs. the advance purchase price of $308. That’s $3.52 a ticket over the regular advance purchase price. What a DVC discount, you pay more! What does one get for the extra? What am I missing?

The UPH gives you unlimited admission to all 4 parks,2 water parks,DisneyQuest and Pleasure Island.

Dan pretty much covered the differences between the tickets and you already know that the PHP tickets do not expire until used.

I personally prefer the Park Hopper Plus passes over the UPH tickets (but I buy annual passes if we plan to be in the parks 8 or more days in a 365 day period). That's because my traveling companions and I seldom visit the water parks or Disney Quest. At most we visit PI once or twice during a week's stay. I like knowing that the days of admission and the plus options on the PHP passes never expire.

It's not so easy to pick the best ticket value, is it? LOL.

Enjoy your stay.

You can ususually get the hoppers even cheaper through a broker, but some of us are willing to pay a little more for the UPH. For us, its the convienence of having our park ticket on our room key - one less thing to keep track of. (Not to mention having to keep track of the hopper itself between visits so those unused days don't go completely unused forever).

(I don't think Disney Quest is included on your "pluses" for a Park Hopper - so if you want to do Disney Quest, a UPH becomes a better deal, but the pluses will include the water parks and Pleasure Island - or at least three admissions to the above, which is more than most people have time for. If you want to spend more days at the water parks and/or visit Pleasure Island a lot, UPHs also make more sense.)

Just to confirm the great advice already given ... I have always been able to drop first and last days from the pass. If you get a CM who refuses (doubtful), just come back later and deal with another CM.

Depending on what features appeal to you, the Hopper may be better- since it does not expire. In our case, our guests have gone to DQ and PI on mulitple days, so the UPH was a much more cost effective media. The convenience is nice. If you don't intend to go into a Theme Park each day, then the Hopper is a beter deal- since you can use the pass only on the days you want.

Just do the math. This is definitely not one-size-fits-all. ;)

Enjoy!

We have usually done the UPH's with the DVC discount. I try to convince my DH that it would be better to buy the 7 day Park Hoppers, but we usually do a water park and DisneyQuest for part of a day, then back to the parks for a parade or dinner or something. If we had the 7 day Park Hoppers, then we might find ourselves "wasting" a day just for dinner. I know we could plan to eat at a resort or fix a meal in the villas those days, but DH can hardly stay away from the parks once we're there. Maybe after we've been a few more times, we'll be ready for some park free days!

A couple of additional thoughts. If you have people along that have the Premium AP, you getting the UMP is a good complement for others in the group. In general, the Park Hoppers are a better value unless you are a Kamikaze daylight to midnight type person. The UMP and PAP are better for people that will hit multiple options the same day beyond just the main parks.

Technially, the 10% discount is only available to the member and anyone staying IN THE SAME UNIT. While DVC has shown no interest in worrying about this and routinely extend the discount, they could withold it if they wished.

Dean, Have you had anyone refuse tickets to guest of other unis?

It would be a bummer to find out at the last minute that we have to purchase tickets at the gate.

Yes, but it's been a while and only once or twice. You should also know that while DVC frequently allows one to drop the first and/or last day, that the rules say otherwise.

I guess, in our case, it might be best to get our tickets at our local Disney store. Although grandma and I visit Disney frequently, the Kids and grandkids haven’t had the same opportunity therefore the parks will be the destination of choice. We do have two weeks before we go to get the tickets so we will keep looking for the best deal for us.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Hi!

We are heading down to OKW for 3 nights before our Easter trip to HH next April- we will check in 4/3 and leave 4/6. I can't figure out how much the UPH would cost if the CM drops the first and last days- meaning I would need a 2 day UPH- is there a per-day breakdown somewhere of how much a UPH is per day? Am I making sense? We would normally buy one-day/one-park passes but since its such a short trip we want to hop around and fit as much in as we can in 2 days!!
Thanks!
