I had to come on here and toot my own horn. I am so excited because in a week and a half I made (after commissions and fees), $80 on ebay!!!

I've used ebay before of course, mostly to buy but I never would have thought that some of these things I had just lying around my house would sell like this! And everything I sold except for one listing was for.....CLOTHING!

Everything I had I was planning on taking to Goodwill. Well I got a little bug in me that said to give ebay a try. I was a little annoyed at having to get absolutely everything in order beforehand (figuring out the shipping is the most annoying) but in the end it was all worth it.

One of my great sales was earning $16.50 for a dress I probably paid either $15 or $20 for at Forever 21. I never thought that clothes would sell like this on ebay.

Anyway, that's $80 for my Disney fund!

Awesome! You might give me the inspiration to go through my tubs of clothes in my storage closet and sell some stuff!

I would recommend it as over the last week i have been listing my girls clothing and right now i am almost at $400.00 and i still have 3-4 large rubbermaid tubs to go thru. It is all name brand, but none of it fits anymore so something is better than nothing.

Congrats to the OP....keep digging and see what other items you can sell as every dollar for disney is a great dollar:goodvibes

Oh man, I need to get my clothes up.....and some pins too, but I'm worried about the pins, I've never sold them on eBay! LOL They are legit but with so many scrapper sellers it worries me. :)

Congrats OP, I hope I have the same success as you!

oh boy...I've been meaning to list some stuff for the first time in years....now I have to get to it!:thumbsup2

That is awesome! I have some winter things I've been waiting to list on eBay until it gets to the right season - I think it's time!

I hadn't listed in over six months so finally I got the bug last week and I listed some scrapbooking items and made over $250. I have more to list and now you reminded me that I have some clothes and a winter coat to post but that will have to wait until I return from Disney.

Thanks all! Honestly the mindset that I went in with was that any money received was money I wasn't planning on getting for it anyway. Therefore I had no problem pricing items for $2 or $3. As the auctions went underway, things just kept getting better and better. Essentially I am now hooked and will be looking for more to sell.

I still can't believe how easily I just made $88. I can't wait to see what else will sell!

so you all are doing well even with all the higher fees?

hmmm I may have to give it a try , i have a ton of stuff to get rid of.
lots of kids clothes.

did you put the kid clothes in lots of same size season, or single items?

I often sell my daughters old figure skating items on ebay...after reading your post I could kick my husband for taking the bag of clothes to the church

I sold small lots of kids clothes that were similar styles/seasons. For example, my daughter had 2 casual dresses and 2 holiday dresses. I sold them in those lots and priced them at $2.99 per lot. Really didn't get above and beyond that, which was surprising. Looking back it might have been better to sell them seperately, however if you have a lot of shirts, a lot would be best. You could easily sell a lot of 10 shirts starting at $8 and see where you go from there. I will usually start a little higher and then if I don't have any watchers or activity after a few days I lowered the price cause I wanted to get rid of it.

All in all I had 6 listings of clothing and made $60+ off of it, less fees which I didn't think were that bad. Paying out $1.75 on something I just sold for $20 was fine with me.

Also I had a kid's Halloween costume that went for $28!!! Get those old costumes up if you have them!

My daughter's old Cinderella costumes are going up this week!! They don't fit and were only worn for 1 night of TOT so perfect condition. Can't say as much for the accessories I purchased to go with it, but oh well! :goodvibes

I made $50 selling a Pampered Chef item I got for free and 1 Longaberger Basket, I was happy!!

Good luck to everyone, and make sure and post what you're selling on Ebay on the thread here on the BB so us Dis'ers can get some good deals too!

Right now I have nothing listed but soon will be listing a Columbia winter coat, snow bibs, another winter coat, some clothes & halloween costumes, so check it out! Username for Ebay: lovingmykidsx2

I have never listed on ebay but have a ton of clothes and costumes I could sell. Are there directions somewhere on how to sell?

At risk of sounding cynical, how much time/effort did it take to shoot photos, upload your listings, take trips to the post office to send items, etc?

It doesn't take long if you do a bunch of items together and list them all at the same time...once you get the hang of it!

Thanks OP for the motivation...I just listed 2 Disney Store Costumes that I have been looking at in my closet...a Deluxe Mickey Mouse (4/5) and a NWT Captain Jack Sparrow (10/12). (ebay ID is lsyhny). I hope I have your good luck! I am now going to dig out my daughter's holiday dresses from Hanna Andersson and list those next...those are ALWAYS good sellers on ebay!!! :)

To take the pics and actually list the items (after I finished the first one) probably took me only 15-20 minutes to complete 6 listings. I did have to figure out packaging and then I went to my post office which has an automated postal service center and recorded the weights of each product. I would say all in all, my total time spent on this little project was no more than an hour and a half. Totally worth it considering Goodwill will give me $0 for it. As a struggling single mom, it's worth it to me. To others, it might just not seem worth the effort. But what else do I have to do when my DD goes to bed other than watch TV or read a book.

the other thing is you can print postage right from your computer via paypal, and also the priority mail supplies are free, they will even ship them to your house for free, and the postal carrier will pick up your packages you are shipping out.
so no need to even leave the house if you don't want to ;)

I use to sell a lot on eBay, but the shipping costs are so high for me as a seller, it discourages buyers when the shipping is more than the item!

How do you all ship clothing? I wish I had those plastic type bags that Lands End (for example) send their clothing in. That would be a cost effective way vs. a box.
