Does anyone know if you have to have a new photo driving license to drive in the US or will the old UK driving license do, as my husband hasn't got round to updating his yet.

Old one is fine. :) Though the new one is good for ID if you are asked for it, saves carrying passports around.

Thanks for that, my dh has also told me it has our old address is this o.k. as well.

I'm called BEV too....

In this country it is an offence to have an old address on your driving licence so I would get it changed.

I don't know whether hire companies would be able to check your address against any info they have or not. The best thing would be to update it to the new photo id one and change the address at the same time.

We were only asked for ID twice, once at Busch Gardens and the other at a subway (sandwich shop) but the tickets all say photo ID is required. Consequently we had to carry our passports around till we were sure no parks were going to ask for ID. It is a bit of a worry carrying them in case you lose them.

Next time we go, we are getting photo ID driving licences.

Good name, Bev. :)

Thanks for that will slap his wrists, not worried about the photo id as have other forms of photo id, due to our jobs....

No need for a photo licence - old paper ones are fine but I would make sure you have the coreect address on it.

I had an international driving permit and the car hire place should no interest in that at all.

I have a paper licence (still with my parents address on it, naughty me!). Never had a problem with hire care in US.
