UK Disney Express Question

Hi everyone,

Anyone with first hand experience of using Magical Express service when travelling from the UK ?

Just under three weeks away from our Beach Club Villas holiday  . We will be using Disney's new Magical Express transport from Orlando Airport to the BCV.

I know that we have to collect our luggage to get through Immigration/Customs and then drop the bags off again before getting the satellite monorail to the main part of the airport. Am I right in thinking that Disney then take responsibility for your bags from that point until they deliver them to your room, or as International travellers do we have to reclaim our baggage first. Also, having booked the magical express some months ago, should I receive tags/confirmation in the post ??

Many thanks

Regards

Hi macca,

We used it last month :)

As you say above, we picked our bags up and then went through immigration & customs. We then dropped the luggage off again and did not then see it until it was delivered to our room :) It was nice to not have to wait to collect it the second time :)

We had no tags sent but were assured this would not be a problem. Did you book through DVC (Member Services) or CRO? If so, just check with them you are flagged as wanting to use Magical Express. We went to the ME desk (you get directed there by CMs in Mickey gloves - you can't miss them!), gave our name and the resort we were staying at. They had us on the list. We then told them which flight we had arrived on (so they knew where to collect the bags I guess) and they had a laminated card which showed different types of case / bags and you tell them which thing on the card your cases look like.

Then hey presto, the bags arrive back at resort, direct to your room. The coach journey made a nice change to having to queue for car hire and then drive to WDW when jetlagged. It also meant we could have a drink on the plane ;)

I really recommend this service. Even better that it's free!

I am in exactly the same situation with one week to go. Does anyone know how to make contact now that ME CMs are banned from the arrival halls?

(see separate thread on transportation board about the protests about DME and alleged soliciting by Disney - protests from limo companies & cabs who are losing business)

After you take the tram to the main terminal (central arrival hall), get off, and exit the security gates, the Magical Express area and check in desk is on the "A" side (look first for big neon "A" on the wall then take stairs down) at lowest level, inside in line with bus parking space no. 30. This is where you make contact.

It is best to attach the yellow Magical Express tags to your baggage just after clearing customs. If you have not completed clearing customs when you get off the tram in the main terminal at Orlando Airport you need to clear customs first, then go to the Magical Express desk.

You do not need to see the Disney CM with the white glove who used to greet you as you exited the security gates into the main terminal.

Do not simply board a bus or van or car at the suggestion of somebody walking around. He could be faking you out. You must check in at the Magical Express desk first. The CM at the desk will help you if you did not have yellow tags for your baggage.

The Disney CM's who handle the baggage and who check you in have not been banned.

We are hoping to use this service for two guests of ours that at our DVC resort of Saratoga Springs. I will keep this thread and print it out for them.

Thanks for the useful information.

Let us know how it goes.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the replies.

I have checked with member services who confirmed that we are booked to use ME. The CM stated that we should expect the information pack with tags within 3 weeks of leaving but having read a number of other posts it looks like this will not happen. Perhaps this applies mainly to overseas visitors ?

Just a quick update -

We received a DME booklet with our personalised tags this morning from Disney sent via FedEx - What a great service

I am looking forward to using this facility :cool1:

Hi

I spoke to ME help desk and I asked about the tags. She confirmed we are booked and said the tags are over rated and not to worry if we dont receive them. We have to give the CM at MCO our luggage numbers which is on the plane tickets. I really would like to have the tags just in case. I hope I get them.

Can anyone who has used the service tell me how long the bags take to arrive? I had heard that they can take 4-6 hrs but if we are arriving from the UK at 4.30pm (local time) and the bags don't arrive until 10.30pm that will be the equivalent of 3.30am UK time and surely we will all be crashed out in bed???

Any view/experiences??

Thanks in advance

Nicola

It took us about 2 hours for the bags to arrive Nicola :)
