UK Dining plan question.

We have a two week holiday booked for october 30th 2010. Due to our booking dates, we were eligible for a free counter service dining plan. We want to upgrade the plan to the regular table service plan but the travel agent has quoted us over £800 to upgrade. The plan is for two adults and one child. The holiday has been booked through Thomson Holidays in the UK.

My question is. Can I upgrade the plan direct with disney prior to our holiday, or can I upgrade the plan when we arrive at the hotel? We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Has anyone done this upgarde and if so how much did it cost?

Can't answer your question about if you can upgrade direct or not but we have booked through Disney direct and it cost us £238 for 2 adults and a child to upgrade from the QSDP. We'll be at POR from 23 Oct- 6 Nov so we may see you there.

I've never tried to do this before, but I do seem to remeber someone else asking about this. I thought that some TA won't upgrade and you have to pay the full price if you want a different dining plan, but I don't know where they get £800 from. If you've booked with a TA I don't think that you can upgrade with Disney. Hopefully someone will be along soon that knows definitely!

that sounds very expensive- they havent given you the prices to upgrade to the delux plan have they?
may be worth trying to contact Disney.

also may be worth posting in the Dining plan section to see what advice they give you there. :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure when we booked £800 was the full price of the DDP and as I said we upgraded for £238. If I remember correctly there wasn't an option to upgrade to DDP and that was quoting the full price of about £1500 :scared1:

Sounds like the TA only allows you to upgrade if you pay the full amount for regular DDP. Some TA's do so, instead of letting you pay the price difference between QSDP and DDP.

If you wish to upgrade, you have to go through the party you booked with, in your case the TA. WDTC can not chance dining for you, nor can you upgrade or chance the dining plan at arrival.

This happened with us too. In October we booked direct with Disney and were able to upgrade from QSDP to DDP for £98 for 3 adults and 1 child. This year we decided to go for DXDP (glad we did now I've seen the exchange rate falling) and to go from QSDP to Dxdp with Virgin we have to pay the full amount (did ask couldn't we have the qsdp too for free LOL but obviously was a no. I was thinking that we could use all the extra snack credits to bring gifts back for the kids at school). Anyway from memory it is costing about £1000 to go from QSDP to DXDP for one week so it doesn't sound as though that amount of £800 would cover that option for two weeks.

Thanks for all the replies. I have sorted the matter out with Thomson head office. It appears that the person I was dealing with did not know what they were doing. I have now upgraded from our free QSDP to the DDP for £184 inclusive for the 3 of us.

Thanks again for the replies.

You can't upgrade to Deluxe in the UK. YOu buy it outright or not at all. There is no credit on DxDDP for free dining.

Andrew A, I posted on your thread on the dining board. :goodvibes

Great news! Sorry, I missed your last post. Now you can relax and plan (if the two ever go together! :lmao:)
