Hi guys.

I have a few questions for people getting married at WDW but coming in from abroad...(or even opposite sides of the states)

- How many have rsvp'd yes compared with how many you invited?

- If its a small party (eg. under 18) is there a point in going for wishes?

- If you've done escape what are you doing afterwards? (I've seen there has just been a similar thread on this though, so apologies for repeating!)

- How do you get your dress there?

- Did you fly out for a planning trip?

- Are you also doing a party or something back home? If so, what?

Thanks for your patience!!! I LOVE this board!! :goodvibes:

I'll try and help....

- Originally i was going to invite more people than i ended up inviting. I started off by inviting parents, siblings and then i was going to invite the closes friends and family and wait to see who rsvp'ed and then invite more if needs be, but in the end just invited parents and brothers and sisters. I didn't send out proper invites to keep it informal.

- As for wishes i went with an escapes wedding added all the bits i wanted and decided that it worked out cheaper than a wishes wedding. If i had come to about $10,000 then i would have had a wishes wedding. Orangetigg started off with an escape wedding and then added so much she changed to a wishes wedding. You might want to look at her TR. The escapes package was perfect for us, but if you want to have the choice to pick your photographer etc then a wishes wedding maybe for you. I did add extra floral and extra Disney photography so it depends what your budget is and what you want.

- As for after you can book whatever you want restaurant want and decorate the table to some extent. Alot of brides have done that if you look at their TR. You can do the desert party and Grand 1 (which is a firework boat trip). I'm doing Portobello Yacht club. I did have 1900 park fare booked (character buffet) but changed it after i read the reviews.

- You can send your dress by UPS to Caroline Allens and they can store it and steam it for you. I personally am very possessive over my dress :rotfl: so i'm going to be rolling mine in tissue paper and puting it in a duffel bag to take hand luggage on the plane. Others have got boxes (mine was too big for that) off ebay.

- I went on holiday there last year and tried a few restaurants i thought would be ideal for the meal after and visited Grand Floridian. I didn't do a planning trip as such but just got a feel for the places. You don't need much of an excuse to go to Disney;)

- I'm having an at home reception. Orangetigg is also having one. Her TR is real good do you might want to read through it :thumbsup2 Theres a few UK brides with TR's that are really good.

If you have anymore questions ask away. I've picked up alot of information from these boards. The women on here are so friendly and nice. All my questions have been answered with seconds:thumbsup2

Thankyou so much for all your help!! I know you must get all the same answers over and over!!

I'll go read the TRs now! If you think of any other UK brides I should read TRs of let me know!!

Might narrow down some of my billion questions!! Hahaha!

Hi guys.

I have a few questions

Ok I'll answer as best I can...........

- How many have rsvp'd yes compared with how many you invited?
We invited 32 people and 26 are coming.

- If its a small party (eg. under 18) is there a point in going for wishes?
Yes there could be. Look at what you would like from your wedding and try to add up the cost for this, you may be surprised to find it not far off the $10000. That way if you do wishes you get more options.

If you've done escape what are you doing afterwards? (I've seen there has just been a similar thread on this though, so apologies for repeating!)
sorry cant help

-
How do you get your dress there?
I'm having a box specifically made to my airlines spec and taking as hand luggage - that baby aint going out of my sight !!

- Did you fly out for a planning trip?
yip - 10 weeks tomorrow !!!! woohoo !

- Are you also doing a party or something back home? If so, what?
Yes, we have hired a local hotel and are having an 'evening do' 7pm - 1am with a disco and a buffet during which we will show a trailer of our wedding dvd and a photo montage.

Hope this helps

Linz xxx :)

A Whole New World - sounds like your having someof what I want so you will have to let me know how it goes at portobellos (although they will have changed their menu by the time I get there), but you will have to let us know how good they are towards your group (ie attitude/serving/bill(if you dont mind) decoration on teh table?)

Torsie - you will no doubt answer all your questions in the PJ's...and will have a few more when all these disbrides unintentionally put more ideas in your head he he

Thank you linz and racey.

Linz I read your PJ a few days ago and it all sounds perfect!!

I hope my OH says yes to a disney wedding. He's stopped saying 'no' now so over half the battle is won!!!

The more photos I show him from on here the emore keen he seems!! :)

PLus my mum LOVES it so she'll be a big help!!

I've been playing on the WDW wish book feature.

It's such a good idea...but doesn't seem to be very well thought out.

No inclusion of pre-receptions or dessert parties.

It's a shame :(

Here's and extra question for brides from afar:

How many peoples flights and accomodations have you paid for? I'm thinking immediate family and then bridesmaids and best man?

Then pass on the discount to the rest of the guests...

well i have been planning our wedding so we can start to budget. I had my heart set on an escape SBP wedding after seeing Lynn's wedding. But Then someone suggested the Swan as they do weddings seperately and at half the price. Have a look at My Swan Wedding in the planning section(its on page 2 at the mo)

This option might be good if you want to pay for flights for people as you could pay for a bit more.

As we would be paying for the wedding we wouldn't be able to pay for flights but after speaking to most of the family many said nothing would stop them from coming!

I thought about a morning wedding and then do the whole picture thing and have lunch at one of the resorts. we would change and go to magic kingdom and have dinner in the castle and finish in time to watch spectro and wishes!
there would only be 15 of us so i wanted to keep it informal but special!

i personally would hold onto my dress until my wedding day and take it on the plane and make my 'husband to be' hold all my normal carry on stuff.

As for a party at home im not sure as we have a small family and 99% of them would be at the wedding.

Thanks tinkanddolnaldfans - I'm not engaged yet either. Lol. But its handy to plan early!!

I might go and have a look at the swan weddings.

When are you hoping to get married?

i think it would be in september becuase thats when we always go (no kids and nice florida heat) but perhaps in 2011. I have a feeling he is going to ask me soon- we have been to tiffanys and he isn't so scared to talk about it which i think is a good sign! hehehehe

i really thought i would need to book a disney wedding but when you think about the money you could save by doing it slightly different you can then add some really nice treats for your guests. like dinners and disney tickets and maybe a mickey appearance

although he is a man and doesn't understand a girls dream wedding when my boyfriend says ' it is only one day' i do think there is some truth in it. albeit very very very small!

Im not planning to marry until 2010... hoping to be pencilled in in Nov 08 but just wanted to say wow! you are generous! im not paying for anyone... but then everyone i have invited so far knows that and didnt expect anything else.

Well, I'm thinking maybe to just test out the waters first and see if people don;t mind paying, then if they can;t afford it we'll pay for the ones that we really need their (family best man etc.)

Save a few $$. Lol.

We are paying for my mum as a way to say thankyou for helping us out with childcare while I worked over the past couple of years. Other than that everyone else is paying for their own flights and accomodation. We will also host a welcome dinner for everyone when they arrive.

Torsie - we're not paying for anyone's flights or accommodation but my mum is helping my brothers' families out with that. We are paying for everything on the wedding day, and we have also made up gift packs to keep the kids occupied for the flight over.

You've probably seen the pic of my dress in my PJ, so you can see it will fold up quite small. We bought a cabin sized case (to fit within Virgin's specifications) in Argos at the weekend - only cost us £9.99 :D Like some of the other brides, that dress is not leaving my side!!

I agree - just I want quite a poofy one:

So I really hope I can fit it in a case!!

What if security make you get it out and your DF is right there?!?!?! I'm worrying about it now!!! Not even booked yet!!

Ooh nice dress ! I'm sure you will be able to squish it into a bag.

As a last resort I may even vacum pack mine and then have it steamed when we arrive

As a last, last, resort I would blindfold Lee and wear my dress rather than put in the hold :rotfl:

We have not paid for anyone, at the end of the day they are coming for a holiday.:confused3

That dress is beautiful :)

I can't imagine that they would make you take it out at security? After all, nothing abnormal is going to show up in the case on the scanner. I should be able to fit my dress, tiara, shoes, and veil in the hand luggage case.

What a lovely dress!!!!
My skirt (well under skirt) is very big. So.....skirt, train bodice and veil fit in hand luggage suitcase fine.
My massive hoop skirt is in suitcase to go in hold as if i lose that it is not the end of the world as i could simply replace that in orlando.
