UK brides...question about flights...

Hi all you UK brides and brides to be!!!

My in-laws etc. (6 people) are flying in from Ireland and I've recently checked airfares (just on Aer Lingus so far) and the flights are really expensive!! (They are arriving on April 28 and leaving May 5)

I'm thinking it would be cheaper fo them to fly to London and then to Orlando. I know a lot of people do that to save some $ when flying into NYC anyway...

I was wondering if someone can give me leads as to how to research good flight prices from London or anywhere else in the UK that they can fly to from Shannon Or Dublin fairly cheaply and then onto Orlando..ie, do you use a specific airline or website etc.?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!! I want to help them in any way I can! My FMIL mentioned booking the flights after Christmas and I'm worried they will start with Aer Lingus and be frightened by the prices!!

So, I would like to be able to give them some other options/ideas..

Why don't you try looking on flightsupermarket.com or something like that? We're flying with thomsonfly for £524, but we're flying from Manchester.

I would just keep checking with people like expedia and maybe register with Virgin, BA etc so that if they have a sale they will send you a email.

I know its a boring job but when I helped my family book thier flights I just trawled the internet for hours costing up every possible option! Make sure you check out charter airlines as they will usually work out a bit cheaper but you normally have to be a little flexible on your dates.

As they live in Ireland it may be cheaper if they got ferry to Liverpool and then to Manchester Airport for the flight or flights to Manchester Airport.

As I'm from Ireland I have to be completely honest with you - don't book Aer Lingus. I used to swear by them for my flights to Disneyland Paris but now its Air France all the way! At the end of the day Ryanair has a substantial share in the company and that should say everything! When I go to the states I fly Delta. I haven't done a run to Florida yet but I think its about 600-700 euros pp return and theres a stopover in either NYC or Atlanta. Aer Lingus is the only airline (to my knowledge) that does direct flights from Ireland to USA, so if your in-laws want a straight forward flight then they really are your only option. I know I've looked at flying to UK myself and going from there but I think by the time everything is sorted its really pretty much the same price. Plus one of the benefits we have in Ireland (not sure if you have it in the UK) is that we can do our security screeing in Ireland and when we land in the states we just go straight through to baggage

Of course thats just my own opinion and feel free to disagree. I think it might be worthwhile getting your in-laws opinions on who they might want to fly with. Give them the options and see what they say. Good luck.
