I saw this was posted by Entertainment Tonight - Another site says her son fell and fractured his skull? Is Britney a bad mom, or just under the microscope for being famous? :guilty: :

ET has confirmed that the Department Of Children and Family Services called and asked for a sheriff's deputy to accompany DCFS investigators on Saturday around 1 p.m. to the home of BRITNEY SPEARS. A sheriff's Deputy Patrol went to the house with a DCFS investigator.

:confused3

She's always going to be scrutinized about her mothering and I really hope this is not the case, I hope her son is not injured like ET is saying. I wish they'd just leave her alone already.

I'm more worried about how Kev is going to dwindle away her fortune and leave her.

They need to get that child into Pre-hab.

I read the child fell out of his highchair. No word on who was with him at the time. She took him to the hospital after noticing excessive sleepiness.

I don't think she is a bad mom and actually think that investigators are sorta ignoring her celebrity. Look at the way the police turn a blind eye to drugs and underaged drinking in Hollywood.

I just think the poor girl has no clue.

The thing is- ok, the driving with no car seat issue, I can understand making a big deal out of. However, everybody's kids have accidents! I mean, I hope they don't start calling DCFS every time the kid falls down, bumps his head, breaks an arm/leg. My mom would have been jailed if they did that, because we were kind of wreckless wild kids some days!!

And yes, there are those times when judgement lapses, and your kid rolls off of the bed or falls out of the high chair. Hopefully you learn, and hopefully there is no real damage, but geez, parents are not perfect.

I don't love Britney, but I do think this is going a bit overboard.

You have to understand, though, that children under the age of 2 are subject to the highest percentage of abuse. They are nonverbal and require a lot of phsical care. Unfortunately, that makes them targets for abuse. Most ER physicians are pretty good at spotting signs of abuse. But they also have to have a high level of suspicion when a child has a serious injury AND the story doesn't seem to support the degree of injury.

Kids fall off beds, fall out of high chairs, slip in the tub. Most of them do not suffer skull fractures or brain injuries, but some do. I'm glad DFC is checking things out. ANd I hope her story is legit.

So are you saying you think SHE abused her son? Man, my DD fell down three stairs and broke her collar bone when she was really little, sure glad they believed MY story and didn't think I beat her up.

I fell out of my highchair when I was a baby. Apparently, the doctors were suspicious when my mom took me to the ER. But when I went to her easily and was crying for her I guess they assumed it was OK. CFS wasn't called, but then again this was back in the early 80's.

Hospitals have an obligation to report these types of things to Child Protective Services.. I don't think anyone is out to get her but the fact that there was already one incident puts a red flag on her...

I for one don't think this is going overboard... there have been TOO many incidences of not ENOUGH follow through or taking a report seriously that has led to unnecessary deaths, injuries & abuse...

ETA: My own DS10 has been to the ER more times than I can remember because he is so wild... if I brought him in for a skull fracture (if that's true) I would expect some scrutiny...

Is this child old enough to be using a high chair? :confused3 Also, any young child brought to an ER with a fracture of unexplained cause (falling versus a car accident)is referred to DCS.All health care professionals are mandated reporters. I don't find it odd that it was reported.Remember, kids fall all the time and break things but there is usually an obvious cause-falling off a bike etc. Could be a fluke, could be there is no fracture just over reporting or this coould be a real problem. Who knows?

I am not a Brittany fan, but my question is this . . . since she is being checked out by the authorities for holding her baby in her lap, then why is Michael "the freak" Jackson not answering even more severe charges for holding a baby over a 3 story ledge ? ? ? :confused3

He should have been. Maybe because it happened outside of the United States.. wasn't he in Germany at the time?

Gloria Allred (whom I normally loathe) tried very hard to pressure the authorities to investigate Jackson after that video was shown. Perhaps they declined to do so because it happened outside their jurisdiction (in another country).

And now that Jackson has fled to Bahrain, so he can molest little boys in peace, I doubt he'll ever be investigated again, for anything.

I don't think Britney Spears is a child abuser, but she always struck me as, well, pretty darn stupid. So it wouldn't surprise me in the least if she dropped that baby on his head. She probably thought he would bounce.

There are certain injuries that will automatically trigger an investigation so that might be the case with a skull fracture.

One of my nephews had a spiral break in his leg when he was about 12mths. His older brother fell on him and it twisted when they fell together. It was automatically reported to DCF because of his age and they type of break. They just asked questions and the case was closed pretty quickly.

No, that is NOT what i'm saying(go back and re-read what I wrote). I'm saying if he suffered a skull fracture I hope the story she gave is true, so she can be exonerated. Kids fall off of stuff all the time. Some of them get pushed. :guilty:

The truth is, small children get hurt by there parents and caregivers every day. I work in a childrens' hospital, so I see a lot more of this stuff than you'd ever want to. You would be appalled at what parents will do to their kids (and then lie about it.)

I too have taken kids to the ED with suspicious injuries. One fell face first into a park bench and just about ripped his nose off--he was 20 months old. he lookd like he'd been punched in the face. You better believe they questioned me--several times. Thankfully, the ER doctor knew me personally and was able to ascertain that i had not abused my son.

The other son, my mentally handicapped one, fell off the front porch and gashed his head open. Try explaining how a nonverbal, nonwalking child happens to get all the way out the door without anybody hearing him, falls off the porch, gets back on the porch(leaving a trail of blood behind him), and then shows up in the ER in an altered state of consciousness. :rolleyes1 Oh.My.God. We were there for hours...

Thanks for clarifiying...I wasn't too sure where you were going with your post. I haven't read anything yet on what happened, I'm sure it will be all over the place by the weekend with all the new releases of the gossip magazines.

Teh child is 6 months old--so yes. And high chairs are modified for even younger ages (reclining like a car seat).

Nanny was taking care of the baby--sounds like the seat malfunctioned or something as baby slipped out of her hands at some point.

For any injuries of that nature--yes it gets reported.

And FTR they found nothing as Ms. Britt and hubby weren't home at the time of the incident.

accidents do happen and regretfully Brittany (car seat incident aside) could be a great mom--and if anything happens to here child people will try to show there is a pattern of something going on be it abuse neglect or whatever.

My child has fallen so many times--both at around the saem age fell and chipped the same front tooth. My youngest one sustained second degree burns on her toes from scalding water--the list goes on.

We aren't an abusive family.

Brit isn't the first nor the last to have an accident involve a piece of baby equipment.

I wish they'd leave her alone. I didn't realize fame gave license to follow her child rearing habits. Man am I lucky to not be famous :smooth: .
