We are scheduled to leave this Sat. at 6 a.m. The updated forecast is predicting signficant snowfall beginning Friday evening and into Saturday. I knew this was a possibility when I booked the trip as we live in North Dakota, so I did purchase travel insurance. Can somebody tell me different scenarios of what might happen? What will be covered by the travel insurance? BTW this is the travel insurance purchased through the WDW travel company.

are you flying out of ND or are you driving down to MSP?

Honestly, snow is a big deal, but it is amazing how airlines can get planes in the air, especially in areas that are ready to handle snow.

We flew out of MSP two spring breaks ago. Northwest was cancelling all of their flights, but Airtran was just running late.... sure enough, we were able to get the flight off, a bit late, but we got out of there to the sun!

Best of luck.

We are flying out of a small regional airport in ND. But, I just saw a forecast that showed that the snow will be the worst during the day on Friday and should clear off during the night, so hopefully they can get the runway cleared off! I think I'll be okay. Whew.

The bigger issue may be when does the plane come into your airport? Probably Friday night. If the weather is bad, they may not want to fly that plane in and cancel both flights in and out of your airport, keeping the plane at a hub. What airline are you flying? You probably want to check the status of the flight coming in on Friday to get an idea if your flight will be OK.

In my corner of Pa it takes 8 inches or more to close our local airport (AVP), FWIW. Good luck!
