Uh-Oh now I'm worried about POP

We leave in just 2 days ...but now there's 2 more icky reviews of POP from just last week....We really choose POP because it's just me & my 2 dd's...we loved ASMovies & ASSports in the past..is POP really that bad?

I'm worried too. We arrive tomorrow. I will be so embarrassed if it's gross!! I'm bringing my parents and my in-laws. If It's loud and has bugs, I think we'll have to go off-site. Not only that, but our 3 rooms are not in the same building! Hey-- maybe that means we'll just have to stay at the parks all day-- that's not so bad, right?! See you there (through the crowds and bugs)

It all depends on your own personal preferences. I did not find Pop to be dirty at all or did I see any bugs. The resort was full when we were there and I did not hear any noise from the neighbouring rooms. I did not like Pop personally, but I think the reason is that it just felt too crowded. While it is nice to have everything close by in some respects, not having to walk too far to the bus stops or food court, it also makes the place appear to small and crowded. I think it would've been much better had they spread it out a little more. If you don't mind feeling "crowded" wherever you go, I'm sure you'll like it. Or maybe you'll luck out and there won't be many other people there. I wouldn't dwell on it though, it really isn't that bad - have a great trip!

Try not to worry. We all have different experiences at the resorts. My first resort was the CR and we loved it. Do you know how many bad reviews there are of it? If you love ASMovies and ASSports then you will probably love POP as well. Have a great trip!!!

No, it's not. We'll be staying there for the second time soon.

You've got to remember that thousands of people stay here. Of course, some will like it and some will not. Go into it with your eyes open. If you liked the All Stars then you are very likely to enjoy Pop as well. Similar, but newer.

I feel your pain,, I also leave in a few days, Tuesday to be exact!!

When I read the recent reviews I felt exactly like you do... I am just hoping for a great trip! BTW,, I am also taking my 2 daughters by myself as well...
Well,,, all I can say is,,, We will Be in DISNEY!!! Lets hope it all turns out great!!

How is it that you already know you aren't in the same bldg?

Because one room is preferred and the other 2 are standard. That's the only way we could book it-- we got the last 2 standard rooms and the only other room in the whole resort was a preferred location. We figured we'd switch it but nothing has come open yet.

I guess that dashes our hopes that it won't be crowded this week, huh?!

I could be wrong, but I believe most people who complain about Pop are staying in a value resort for the first time. Compared to a deluxe or even moderate, Pop does seem to be lacking just a bit. However, compared to any comprable off property value resort, Pop is great.

And as for Pop vs. All Stars, I feel the food court and gift shop are far better at Pop. They are larger, offer great variety, and I love that I can walk through a gift shop on my way to and from the busses. (You can avoid this if you so desire.) When I wait for a Pop bus, the All-Star busses always keep rolling in. When I wait for an All-Star bus, the Pop ones are always rolling in. I think it's just a "grass is greener" kind of thing. There will be some modest waits, but it's really no worse than waiting for a bus to circle a moderate resort with several bus stops.

Believe it or not, when you get thousands of people together you are likely to hear them or even have to wait in line with them. As long as you accept that, you'll have a great time.

I feel if you have a positive attitude you see things in a positive light. WDW really brings the most positive attitude out of me, so I tend to see things through rose-colored glasses when I'm there. Don't let someone elses perception of POP keep you from having a great trip. There are many more "We Loved Pop" stories than the negatives. We just tend to remember the negatives more...

This is so true. We love POP and have never had the bad experiences you read about on these boards. I read a negative post about GF earlier this summer about a stay that took place at the exact same time that we were staying at GF and we had a wonderful experience, same thing with every other resort we have stayed at. I think it depends on your expectations and your attitude. Don't worry, just go with a positive attitude and have a good time. If you go thinking something is going to go wrong then you will go looking for and expecting for there to be a problem and you will find any little thing to ruin your trip.

I am headed to Pop for the third time this year. In three trips it has never been dirty or overcrowded feeling, even when at capacity. The staff is wonderful and the rooms are sufficient.

We've never had noise problems and i think that it just varies from person to person and that can happen in any hotel.

Go with an open mind and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I am hoping this post will make your day. I just returned from Pop.

I love the All Stars. Have, whoops I mean had, a definite bias to them at the Value level. Heard great things about Pop....and thought to each their own. All Stars forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This trip was in two parts. (well three I had two days at SS my first DVC stay!!!) The last ten days I booked ASMo with my partner. At the last minute I booked six days prior with the free dining offer and took my mom down. And I thought to myself this is your chance to stop being so narrow minded and give Pop a chance. I expected a one time only stay and back to my All Stars. I mean really "it's much too big...blah blah blah". I was prepared to be longing for another Value.

Well I loved it. Loved it so much I changed my final ten nights from ASMo to Pop. CMs were only too happy to do this for me.

Had a fantastic room mainly because a wonderful CM saw that we wanted quiet and put at the back of 1950's. Changed where they had put us without us asking. Our room was at the end with a lake view from one bed and only sided on one room not two. We were close to the main building but quiet quiet quiet. I truly believe the earlier you get there the better for room selection.

My mom was so thrilled with the room (3437) that she called down to thank the CM and the CM send up a special note to her.

The CMs (except a mere one...what can you do!!) were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

And I enjoyed not taking such a long time to get to DD. The All Stars are quite to hike to DD and I love going there.

I thought I would hate the size of Pop. But I forgot about the positives of size: buses and buses and more buses. Rarely waited. I think many people are too critical of Disney's transportation. They can not be perfect every time with it. Impossible. Pops' buses, during my stay, were terrific.

Food court design. I enjoyed the fact that at certain times you could have a table away from the crowd.

Have a wonderful time. I am pretty sure PC threw all my "All Stars forever" chiming out the window.

I gave an semi negative review for POP. I didn't like the noise or the lines. Buses were efficiant(sp?) though. We never saw a bug in our room. Just tons of lizards and snails outside. But those are everywhere though. Try and request top floor rooms, that way you don't have noise coming from the floors above you. I read from another poster that she had a great room in the 50's building, ours might have been louder because we were in the 70's on the 2nd floor, and kind of on the main drag. We might end up giving POP one last chance and request a room in the 50's section top floor. Who knows, that might make all the difference. Ya know what, it wasn't bad enough to spoil my trip. Have fun and don't worry!

I love the value resorts...always have...I see no reason why I wouldn't love POP! I just hope we can get a pretty good room...we're not arriving till after 1pm...but that's ok...maybe I'll just buy some ear plugs today...

I started a thread, I LOVE POP. We prefer it over deluxes most of the time. There are make or break value trip rules. These are as follows:

1. Leave for the parks early!!!There are many buses but a lot of folks sleep in and then can't believe disney is so crowded. We are always one of the first in line for the bus. We get a seat and use the restrooms and sip coffee at the park line.

2. If you want quiet choose a lake view. Yay!! a lake view at a value.

3. EAT EARLY!!We have our own private table with our own priv ate Christmas tree becuse we eat early. We love it. The lounge is very nice. hint hint.

4. Take time to look at the posters, courtyards etc.

We have no complaints with bugs or noise. WL was one of the noisiest experiences we have had but that is an irresponsib le parent's fault not disney.

You can have a fabulous time at POP and maybe become their cheerleader too

I just wanted to tell you that my DS4 loves POP so much that we have been there every other month since it opened - that's how many trips now? I forget if it was december 2004 or 2003 when it opened. He always wants to stay there, when he is given the option. He loves the game room, the kiddie pool, the big pool, the rooms, the X's on the carpets, the big mickey mouse phone, the big play dough, the TVs in the food court. etc. He is so happy there.

Don't be nervous, NOTHING IS EVER PERFECT!!!!! So, as long as you go with the intentions of having fun with your daughters you will!

I personally think the bathrooms are louder that at the As hotels, but I just close the bathroom door and it's fine. We have stayed everywhere in the 50s, 60s and 70s and haven't noticed any one area being louder than any other, except right smack dab in front of the pool on the ground floor - but that is just people traffic.

POP is great!

I always take what I read with a grain of salt. People who love one place, may never leave their home and have nothing to compare it to. Perhaps the person posting the negative review is some mean old man, who hates everything. Maybe someone raving about a certain hotel takes valium and drinks so they think EVERYTHING is ok. Who knows.

Bugs are not crawling out of EVERY corner and crevice at the POP nor are there loud people around EVERY corner. The rates are great and you are going to have a fabulous time. If you are worried about noise level, ask for an upper floor so you will have less people above you and less people walking by your room. If you see bugs, call the frontdesk and ask them to take care of it. It's not a big deal.

Just relax and have an awesome time! I love the days right before a trip....so much excitement.

We stayed at POP in 2004 and loved it. I have heard many complaints from people that stayed in the 70's and 80's building. We stayed in the 50's building and had no problems.
