Oh no! The official wdw college program page says they've discontinued the summer program! I was planning to do the program for just the summer and then afterwards go into auditions for fulltime entertainment positions. The college program means having a job set up before I move to Orlando, staying at the Disney apartments for 3 months to give me a chance to settle in Orlando before I get my own apartment, and networking opportunites that I might not get otherwise.

Now what?? I could interview for the fall advantage program which is summer through fall, but I didn't want to stay on the program that long before going fulltime... I could interview for the fall program and stay home for the summer, but I don't want to wait...my other option is to forget the college program all together and go straight to casting after I arrive in Orlando...but then I won't have the advantages of having a job before I move and a temporary place to live already arranged. I don't know what to do- Help!!

Incidentally, I also got a card in the mail today from the graduation specialist saying to please contact her as soon as possible regarding my requirements for graduation. I sure hope it's nothing major. I swear I've checked everything. *sigh*

Angie, I think if you are going for casting, I would try NOW or at least sooner rather than later since they will need to hire lots more people for the busy summer months.

Oh, darn, thats too bad, I wonder why they are discontinuing the summer program? That really stinks! I agree, I would try now to get my foot in the door before all the others get hired for the summer jobs! Good luck!:D

I would verify with a phone call to that area of Disney to confirm that the summer work is out for you. There may be something there afterall, especially for those who are CP alumni. I know you will figure it out, AB, let us know.

I thought your thread was "uh oh, a snag in my pants" :teeth: LOL!

Sorry to hear that they are cancelling the summer program. I agree with others that you should just call and talk to someone at Disney, they might have an idea for you if nothing else.

Swing down during Spring Break or something and see if you can interview for a regular position beginning this summer?

I called the graduation specialist, and it turns out everythiing's ok. It was just a class I had petitioned for that hadn't gone through yet. *whew*

I'm afraid mid May is the earliest I can get to WDW. Spring break is out- a friend from Orlando is flying *here* to visit me that week. The webpage says they are discontinuing the summer program because they've been getting feedback that there isn't enough time in the summer to get anything out of it. It says the only option for alumni who want to do summer is to look into being seasonal. They have seasonal housing, but during the summer you can only use it for a month at a time. Plus, I think they put you back in your old job. I want to try something new!

The college program is mostly a comfort zone. I wanted things set up before I leave cause going down there cold when you've never really been on your own before is kinda scary. It's probably my best option at this point though.

Good luck, Angie, it whatever you decide. Almost all new college grads are nervous about going "out there" to look for jobs. At least you know what you want to do!

Good luck Angie!! I am sure you will be able to figure something out between now and then. Do you have anyone you can contact there and talk to about this? I know that leaving college and doing the job thing is scary to begin with, so I wish you all the best with this! I am sure it will work out just fine in the end. Just wish I had some good ideas or advice to give you :)

Sorry to hear the news about the summer program. I think you should still go down, find a job at WDW and audition. Maybe an old friend will need a roommate or something. I know that things will work out for you. Graduating and going out on your own is so scary, but the best thing to do is to not put things off. Good luck!:D
