My DF and I literally just found out that we were approved for the apartment we were hoping to move into!!!

:woohoo: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :thumbsup2

So now we are faced with the unfortunate task of figuring out how to make this bathroom less yellow and, well, ugly...

:scared: :sad2: :headache:

DF suggested accenting with blue, but I (and everyone else here in Michigan) would associate that with U of M. And I don't want a U of M bathroom.

I suggested green, but DF quickly nixed that.

So blue and green are not options.

I figured adding A LOT of tan would neutralize the yellow (:confused3). What would you do?

Well, since this is a Disney board...you could add things in red, white and black and then you would have a Mickey bathroom.

How about using burgundy or a deep red? My entire downstairs is painted a butter yellow and I use burgundy accents.

I like black, yellow and white together.

It's really not too bad! :scratchin

My bathroom is yellow and I decorated it in lighthouses (all primary colors), but I live by the beach.

You could have some fun with it and go with shades of oranges and reds. Instead of trying to diminish the yellow, work with it. :)

TNT?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

Actually, I think I'd go Mickey with reds and blacks to go with the yellows.

I like the yellow - if you Disney'fied it!!! Its not bad. I dislike the wood cabinets more.

My dad would love it if it was blue & gold and he'd really never leave his place of worship if it was in his beloved colors.

I was thinking a tan or a lighter shade of that yellow.

Well I suggest peeing with your eyes closed, but that doesn't work as well for shaving! :headache:

I think the mickey theme is the best so far.

Congrats on the appt. Did he take the job in Flint?????

OK ... First congrats on getting the apartment that you wanted!!! Second, that yellow color is AWESOME compared to the rusted peach color that I had in a bathroom in IL. It was the exact same situation as yours, the tile on the shower and the half wall and then the coordinating tiles on the floor. HORRIBLE ...

In that one I ended up going with a Palm Tree theme b/c the orange/brown coconuts where the same color as the tile!!

With your's I would go with tan and a deep red, maybe a little dark green as well if you can sneak it in.

Our main bathroom is yellow. At first I tried going with kind of a spa theme, all neutral accessories, to try to tone it down. Then I decided to run with it and did a whole St Augustine beach theme (St. Augustine is a town/beach near where I live).

I bought a lighthouse/beach themed shower curtain and matching soap dish and liquid soap dispenser. Then I hung a ceramic wall pocket with a sand dollar embossed on it, and numerous St Augustine-themed pieces of art: an outstanding photo of alligators that DH took at the St Augustine Alligator Farm; a circa 1920 4" by 6" color map of St Augustine apparently cut from an old travel book (I bought it on Ebay); a shadow-boxed photo of the Bridge of Lions opening; a set of 3 photos of the St Augustine lighthouse that I bought at the lighthouse museum; and more.

I framed everything in very inexpensive white-painted wood frames that I bought at Michael's for practically nothing.

Now it's a very fun bathroom and guests always comment on it. :rolleyes1

Yeah, probably I'm not going to be able to avoid keeping my eyes closed and not looking at it :sad2:

I'll have to run the whole Michey-theme past DF. He might not like that idea too much, but might change his mind if I let him keep some of his model cars out somewhere! ;)

No, the Flint job fell through, actually. But he's got some really good leads on some jobs closer to home. So in the meantime, we're keeping the jobs we have now. The apartment isn't far away, we're moving to Clawson.

You will be my neighbor!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 So cool, :cool1: hey you want to baby sit sometime??????

Believe me, DH and I almost moved to New York (Ithaca) Wisconsin, Ohio and a number of other places when he was job hunting. Thank goodness he found one closer to home (1st Lansing, then Livonia.)

Congrats on the new apartment. We once moved into a place that had blue tile and yellow walls, so what did I do... filled it with Sponge Bob stuff, hey it was an extra bathroom so I let my little brother decorate it. Goodluck with a theme for it, I like that it has a window that always helps. I like the beach theme idea and of course the Mickey one.

Yeah, moving the 10 miles we are is stressful and hard enough, I can't imagine moving across the country! I'm really glad, too!

Congratulations on your new apartment. :)

I think these colors would be nice and would tone down the brighter yellow.

I'd also hang a picture over the toilet that would coordinate with the tans, yellows. Perhaps a simle starfish print.

Good luck.
I REALLY love this! Thanks so much! I think we found a winner! And I'm going to show that picture to DF, he'll probably end up liking the green! And he's wanted bamboo for a long time, too! Thanks!
