So am I the only one? A coworker is currently honeymooning in the mouse house...
She had no idea as Friday whay horel they are booked in and have no ADR's.
Am I the only one expecting horror stories on the return? Any one else have this experience?

yep----pretty sure you will be the only one expecting horror stories upon their return since no one else here knows them!

anyhow, doubt they would have booked WDW and not want to be there...perhaps they will never leave the room...it is, after all, a honeymoon

of course, maybe they just go on vacations and don't over-plan like the rest of us disaholics. i know its hard to believe, but there ARE people who just go with the flow......SHOCKING!

This was one of my thoughts. Not all of us men just go to disney because we have to.. some of go because we love it, and even some of us do all the planning

I've seen this with many of my friends on their first trip. Many people don't realize that a certain amount of planning really should be done. All of my friends that "wing it" come back and never seem to see anything. One of my best friends went a couple of years ago. When she came back I asked her how she liked Splash Mountain, Soarin, EE, RnR, and ToT? Her reply was "Oh we didn't ride any of those. The lines were too long". Another complaint that she had was that all they could seem to find to eat was "fast food". She said that every TS restaurant they tried to go to was full. I asked her where she tried and she replied, "The one in Canada and Chef Mickey's". While I know that it is possible to get in last minute sometimes, these restaurants are typically full and hard to get into, especially with her family of 5. I told her before she left that she should make some ADR's but she said that they were just going to wing it. I also told her about fast passes, but she thought it just seemed like a pain. It just made me sad to see her spend all of that money and not get the experience. She did enjoy herself for what she did, but it's hard when I know that there is so much more that they didn't get to do. She is planning on going back next year, and has agreed to let me help her with a little planning. Not every detail type planning, but just some basic stuff.

they got a 2 day ticket and 2 day water park.
the plan was Magic Kingdom one day epcot one day.

For some people, one day really is all they need. Or maybe they'll get a nice taste for it and do more next time. Our first trip to Disney we only did one day. And we lived to fight another day.

Really, unless you're staying for an entire week and hit the point where extra days are $8 each, it's tough to swallow the additional cost of one more day for 4 people. For us it's sort of an all or nothing deal now. One day or 10. Never anything in between!

This makes me want to faceplant on my keyboard and roll my head around. These guys are going to be very disappointed. Unless, of course, they don't give a hoot about all the good rides and shows with long lines, skip them because they didn't want to wait, and then complain about how 'there isn't anything at Disney'.

I wouldn't go without a hotel reservation because I don't want to end up stuck in some fleabag. But I'm leaving for Disney in 44 days and haven't got a single ADR. Nor do I plan to make any! For me, ADRs just seem like a big old ball and chain dragging on my leg. I hate the thought of being obligated to be in a certain park at a certain time just to eat a meal. What if I'm not hungry then? Or not in the mood for Italian that day? If that means I eat counter service all week, that's okay. Going without ADRs isn't for everybody but it's what works for me.

Maybe heading out with no plan and winging the whole trip is what works for your friend, OP So, it's entirely possible she'll come back from her trip reporting that she had a blast! Different strokes ...

Yep, we're buying 10 days non-expiring park hoppers next time to cover two trips. After our recent car purchase - uh, not happening. Two days is good for us this time. I'm too sluggy this summer to want to do much more.

My parents' chiropractor just got back from his first trip to WDW. They went spur of the moment, stayed off-site, and didn't even know where anything was. He told them it was an awful place, all they did was stand in line.

My sister, who is not known for planning in advance, is wanting to go and I keep telling her to book as soon as possible, make ADRs 6 months in advance, and do her research. But my guess is she'll have a similar story because she'll just go and have no idea what she is doing.

Some people my partner works with went during Christmas week with no plan or ADRs They came back complaining that they barely got to ride anything and that it was too crowded, plus they couldn't find a place to eat and had to eat fast food all week. They said it was boring and they weren't going to go back.

I guess for me I just don't understand how you can spend all that money and not do ANY research

A few days later, DH asks her how it went. The little girl had a great time just being at WDW, but her dad was upset that they didn't ride very many rides and couldn't find Mickey.

At least we pointed our coworker in the right direction, so that when she does take her daughter again, they'll have a better time.
