ughh, I made a BIG mistake and now I bummed!

OK, I should be excited that I am leaving for the world in a few days, but yesterday I was gathering all of my confirmations and to make a long story short my airline tickets through Airtran had me and my son returning on the wrong day! These tix were freebies that I won in a contest so I knew I was up the creek. The worst part was I booked a separate ticket for my husband which I had to change with a hugh $$ difference now.

I made the reservations back in April (I actually changed them from a previous reservation that I made back in Feb., which was the probem) I can not figure out how I didn't notice this problem until now and am so dissapointed in myself. Of course Airtran wouldn't accept any responsibility and everything is booked up now.

Between the extra day for the car rental, food, another night in a hotel it is costing way too much!! I keep telling my husband that it is only money, but geesh this isn't good.

It's so frustrating when you make the effort and plan so far ahead of time, then a detail bites you in the backside. I'm really disappointed that Airtran wouldn't try to help. Did they listen to your whole story? If the extra day is creating stress can you move to a less expensive hotel, and eat snacks and fast food just for the one day to reduce the cost? Hope it all works out.

When we get to the airport I will speak with someone here. My husband has the gift of gab and will hopefully be able to get a name of a higher up that could possibly help.

I have all of my paperwork at work and I wrote down the person's name that I talked to when I made the change. The funny thing was I called everyday for weeks to finally get the dates that I really wanted. They offered a one time no charge change on the certificates.

I still can't believe that I never noticed. I have been swamped at work and I remember opening the confirmation email and then filing it into my trip folder

This mistake so far has cost $168 in additional airfare for my husband, $50 for an extra day in car rental, (we booked a weekly rate so adding on a day is not good) I am hoping to get an airport hotel for $35-$40 on priceline. That's alot of $$ for one day!

I booked the wrong return date for my children coming back from Phoenix. I had them staying with their cousins for 2 weeks instead of one. My sister let me know that I had made a mistake! I guess she didn't want them for 2 weeks.
