So yesterday my DH calls on the way home from work. The first thing he says is, "Don't be upset," which of course makes me upset. It seems that he got an email from the VP of his company asking all of the managers from all of the different divisions of his workplace to keep April 1-3 open for a meeting somewhere in the US (probably Minnesota). That would be all well and good if we weren't leaving for WDW on March 31 and don't return until April 6.

My husband NEVER takes time off of work. It took me three months to convince him that we needed a vacation and it has been planned for at least eight so that all of the arrangements could be made to make sure that things went smoothly when he left. We have all of our ADR's made (at the 180 mark no less) and it's DH's birthday. We have to send in our final payment on Thursday and I'm freaking out.
:headache:

DH sent the VP an email telling her exactly what's happening her and all I can do is hope and pray that it all works out because if not, I'll have a heart broken son on my hands.

I need all of the positive thinking that I can get at this point.

Isn't it always something? I hope you can not worry about it, because chances are, the VP will understand and it'll all work out OK. Everybody needs a vacation!

Let us know what happens.

I feel your pain, our trip last Sept was in danger a few times, first my dh employer told him that his vacation was going to be cancled, ...he put in for it in Jan and had the proof that it was approved...he told that he had non-refundable plane tix's and finally they "let" him go. Then my branch manager got transfered out 2 weeks before we were supposed to leave, the district manager asked me if I could postpone my trip, I laughed at him. And to top it off my brother was having a big problem with one of his paitents (he is a ICU neurologist) and was thinking about taking a later flight and "catching up" with us later! Luckly it all worked out for us and we had a GREAT time! Hopefully your DH will be able to work something out! Best of luck to you!!

We are in a very similar position. We planned our trip for Aug. '08 in July '07 with our ressies made for the Dolphin, followed by a 4 night cruise with DCL. DH and I discussed at length when would be the best time to go so as not to interfere with his work schedule. We considered all options heavily, finally deciding that the land/sea package was not a viable option . . . this is our second trip in 5 years and likely to be our only return for at least another 5 years and we knew we could not possibly do all we wanted to do in WDW in 3 days! So DH's boss told him when he put in the request at the first of the year that 2 weeks was too much and he'd only approve one! He tried to claim that he's never approved a 2 week vacation for anyone but my DH had to point out at least 2 co-workers who have had numerous 2 week vacations (not to mention the boss himself who visits family in SriLanka for weeks at a time!!). This is the first time we've ever considered a 2 week vacation and are only doing so to maximize both our first cruise and a trip to WDW together in one trip. So our solution . . . . . he's been job hunting on the major career search sites for the last 5 days! Even after 12 years with this company, we both decided our family vacation is more important!! He has 6 months to find something so wish us luck!!

We had a vacation planned for mid December when my DH needed to be here for work in the middle of our vacation. We were able to change the date to early/mid November. Good thing is....we love early November more than Mid early/mid December. Now we plan November!

Is it too late to change dates??

Boy, it's so nice to know that we're not the only people that have problems with workplaces that don't follow through on their vacation promises. I wish we could change the date but I already have my vacation approved and it would be do hard to do that again. I'm a teacher and taking a week off (which I'm doing ;) is a big deal). In the meantime, DH has been checking his Outlook several times today and still nothing.

I'll let everyone know when we know. I keep on saying "if" we go on vacation and my husband says it's happening so at least he's still hopeful.

NJ Fab Four: Good luck with the job search. I know it's really difficult right now. I'll be thinking of you guys.

I guess we just keep on checking his mail and hoping.
