I think it's great that you wanted to take the summer off to spend it with your son, so I am not criticizing you for that at all! I do agree, though, that it was very generous of them to hold your job for you for the summer in your situation. I wouldn't rock the boat and I do think it's common to pass the buck as far as blame is concerned. Maybe not nice, but common.

I think the obvious answer is, no good at all!!!

This does sound like an unprofessional Law Office

But, remember, if you worked for a professionally run office, you would not have spent the last few weeks at home with your dear son!!!

Make your choices, and live with them. It never does any good to whine and rock the boat.

PS: Temp agencies have tons of 'work fairies' ready to fill in!!!!
If your agency needed the help, and they obviously were not paying YOU while you were gone, then they should have called in a temp.

If it were me I'd let it go especially since it didn't actually name YOU specifically! While they probably meant you the client didn't know it and had you not seen the letter you wouldn't have known it either!

It's not like it said _________ decided to screw our company when she asked for the whole summer off to take care of her kid and so needless to say that she is the reason we screwed the pooch on your will. Now see that would really piss me off....but since the client has no idea WHO you are or that it was YOU specifically that took time off...write it off as a who cares and move along.

It's great you wanted to spend time with your son for the summer and if it was possible when I worked I would have asked for it too but sometimes it's just easier to blame the easiest person and move on.

Pretend you didn't see it and enjoy the rest of the summer before you go back!

I think, and this is just me, that I'd be doing the that I had a job that gave me the whole summer off just because I asked for it and that would outweigh any other issue I might have with them.
