Ugh! Was it the Marriot that had bedbugs?

I'm in the Tacoma area, and on our local news tonight they did a story of a woman who stayed at the Marriot near Disneyland. She woke up covered in blood, and reported it to the hotel staff. When she was seen by Doctors, she had more than 650 bedbug bites! Her children were also affected. When the hotel staff investigated the bed, they flipped the mattress and there were hundreds of bedbugs!! The pictures of all the bites looked absolutely hideous!

You know, we've stayed at the Tropicana twice, and they have those mattress covers. We've never been bothered by them, and if they keep the bedbugs away, you can bet we will ONLY stay at the Tropicana! My skin is still crawling at the pictures!

I saw the same news report. It was the Farifield Inn Marriott. Those pictures were so disturbing! Yuck!!

Oh no, we leave tonight for the Residence Inn Marriot Garden Grove, my skin is crawling!!!! I will be checking very carefully for bed bugs. Now another things to worry about.

Gahh!! Your stories are freaking me out! I'm going to my cousin's wedding in Chicago this weekend. Neither I or my family members have ever heard of the hotel we are staying at. I did view the photos of the hotel and it looks rather nice. I'm going to be checking for bed bugs! Ewww!! :::shudder::::: Just thinking about it gives me the hee-bee-gee-bees!

We had the same thing on our newscast last night here in Phoenix. They didn't say which hotel it was but showed some pictures of the family. They were covered in bites, it was horrible. I think I read on here a few weeks ago that there was a bed bug problem at the Best Western.

Sadly, bedbugs are becoming a huge problem all over the country. The outbreaks are heavy in "tourist" areas New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc.

Always check the bedding!

We'll be staying at the Residence Inn Garden Grove in December. Please post your experiences there including the conditions of the beds (ie. bedbugs) when you get back. Does anyone have pictures of the bugs? I would like to see what it looks like. YUCH!!!!

When checking the bedding, what are we looking for? Tiny black bugs similar to fruit flies or fleas?

I'll look at the pix if I have to but would rather not :sad2:

So....are we to look for tiny black bugs like fleas?

I just looked at the pictures and their not bad but you should look at them and read the article so you know what to look for. And, no, they are not tiny black bugs like fleas.
