Before I can have my gricerys delivered I have to buy 50.00 in grocerys? I do not want 50.00 in grocerys, i want 2 cases of water and thats it!! what am I doing wrong? have you all had to spend 50.00 in grocerys to get them to deliver??

how does costco's work? does any one get them to ship? Im at a loss as to what to do and to save money.

They probably have $50 as a minimum otherwise any less is not worth their while. There is probably something else you could probably use that would come in handy.

Is this your first time ordering with them? If you sign up, you should get an e-mail offer for no minimum first order and free delivery........ Maybe this changed now that Albertson's is not delivering? The code should be easy7.

Yep. I know the dilemma well. I have been ordering from Vons for years, and sometimes I need a LOT of things, while other times I only need a few things. This is one area where Albertsons used to have an advantage over Vons in the home/office delivery arena - you didn't have to order $50 worth of groceries to get them to deliver. Of course, they still charged a whopping delivery fee, but there was no order minimum. Sadly, Albertsons stopped home/office delivery so Vons is pretty much the only game in town.

One thing that may be worth looking into is any of the smaller, independent companies that deliver groceries (check online). That's what I do now when I don't have enough for a Vons order. We have a place called Yummy Delivery (you may want to look into seeing if they have Orange County branches) near to where I live and they have a pretty good selection of groceries. Also, Pink Dot is another smaller grocery delivery company that may very well deliver to the DLR and the surrounding area/off-site hotels. Pink Dot has been around for ages, so they may have an Orange County branch.

I am very politely asking this question. Why do you want water delivered to your room? When DH and I went to WDW the last thing in the world we wanted to worry about was groceries. We took a camelback and a single bottle each for water (both of which we refilled throughout our trip) and it worked out great. I don't understand the need for having water delivered to the hotel. Just curious....

Sorry to hijack, but when did Albertson's stop delivering to the DLR area? :confused3

They actually stopped delivery everywhere - no more delivery at all - and I am trying to remember when it happened. I think it was earlier this year, maybe. I am blanking out on the month, but I think it was this year and not at the end of last year.

Wow - apparently I am a little out of the loop on this one. That sucks though! :sad2:

Another option "might" work is where the good neighbor hotels are, there are mini marts might want to check them out maybe they have bottled water that can be purchased in bulk.

We used to have cases of water in our room when we went to DLR. This last trip DH and I took a larger flip top water bottle and refilled it at the park at least 4 times a day. It was easier to manage one water bottle each, instead of 8 different water bottles. There are lots of places to fill them up and you don't contribute to landfills either. Win-Win for us. :thumbsup2

I agree with those who say bring in a camel back or a bottle. I bought a super cute one in the parks, and now the Disneystore has some really nice metal bottles with clamps. They had some for kids and adults. You can fill them up at water fountains or one of the many taps they have at some c/s places around the parks. So much easier, lighter and you get colder water!

number 1
I do not feel like getting a camel back, we already carry back packs and so do the kids.
number 2
is the last time I took a nice cup to refill it was stolen right out of my cart. I like to have my bottle in my back pack, this way its with me at all times . And I do not want to refill from a dirty water fountain, or have to hunt down a place to refill it. I love having water in my room in the fridge nice and cold.

and about worrying about grocerys? well I have small kids who want juice and snacks and I like to save money by having it in the room and not trying to board a flight with it all in my suit case and with out a car having to get a taxi any where to buy stuff.
Hence the delivery.

Also when we went to WDW we had grocerys delivered and it saved us a ton!!! We had water, cereal, milk, juices and snacks delivered and put in our room before we arrived!

So yeah, some of us with kids do need delivery :)

I totally get wanting to have groceries with you in the hotel (I have two young boys myself). We always have breakfast at the hotel (or a pre-breakfast snack) and lots of snacks for during the day. Even with water, juice boxes, cereal and milk you might not have enough for a delivery but have you thought about throwing in some fruit or breakfast pastries or fixin's to make a PB&J sandwich for the kids? Or maybe a box of Ziploc bags for the kids crackers/cookies/other snacks?

Or what about buying AA batteries for cameras or any other electronic toys? They'd be cheaper than buying them in the parks but might bring you up to the minimum order... And since you're flying what about buying shampoo, lotion, sunscreen, etc. through Vons and that way you do not have to pack it into a suitcase or carryon?

Just some ideas.... :thumbsup2

They sure do! As I sit her at this very moment, at HOJO (;)) waiting for my $51.68 order to be delivered. It was supposed to be here between 1 and 3, it's 3.31pm right now. I just called, waited on hold for 10 minutes and was told my delivery would be at least another hour... then conveniently got disconnected! GGGRRRR

No, I'm not irritated at all:rolleyes:

we opted for alegiant air and they charge 30.00 for bags round trip for each person !. we are doing a carry on so no room for anything else, shampoo is provided in my room, all I bring is small bottles of conditioner. there free to, I get them from a friend who gets them at the expensive motels. I love it :)
Also ready got zip locks packed, ( for the goofys kitchen snacks ;)
Batteries I use are rechargeable, never buy batteries any more. I got me a fancy recharger that actually re sets the batteries to full capacity and factory settings. I paid a ton, but it was so worth it since the regular chargers were actually killing them off.
I will just buy a bottle of water there for all of us, then refill it if I have to. I will be packing those drink mixes.
Lotions and sun screens are also packed, I put them all in 3 oz bottles.

The problem with vons is everything I picked out was on sale, and it ends a few days before we go, so that 50.00 was going to be way more. so I had to go back and figure out what to fogo, its all a pain in the ****. Im just going to deal . :)

Been there, done that. I cannot even tell you guys how many mistakes Vons has made on my orders or how many delivery fiascos I have endured and continue to endure from them in the 6 or 7 years that I have been ordering from them. Then again, I am up in L.A. I thought their service was better in Anaheim. But it is necessary for me to keep using them because I don't have a car. I had high hopes for Albertsons, but the Vons deals were usually better in comparison. As I stated in my earlier post, though, I DO use Yummy Delivery or Pink Dot and other smaller grocery delivery places on occasion - the service is usually better and there is not a $50 minimum order; only problem is, they don't have the wide selection that Vons has. But they do have lots of water, that's for sure!!

I ordered water from Costco for our WDW trip and it was $7 per case with no extra shipping charge. Placed the order 5 days before we arrived and it was there waiting for us.

Another water tip is that ice water from counter service restaurants is Free!! You can just walk up and ask for ice water and use that fresh cold cup to refill your water bottles.

We did the same last year at WDW. We ordered 2 cases of water from costco about 5 days before our trip and had it delivered to our hotel. It was waiting for us at the hotel when we checked in. I don't remember the cost but $7 a case sounds right. It beat having to buy bottles of water at the parks.
