I'm off to call Southwest...
I can't believe I did this! It wasn't my first rodeo booking tickets, but here is what I did:
We are going to WDW for Marathon Weekend in January. When we made our plans, only the outbound flight dates were available. But they were good prices, so I booked our one way trip to Orlando.

When the new dates were released, I waited until I saw a good fare. So then I booked our one way return tickets. Yesterday I by chance looked at the reservation...I booked the return flight from Orlando to Columbus backwards, and booked Columbus to Orlando. :headache:

Has anyone done anything like this before? What was your experience changing the tickets?

Since it's Southwest I don't think you have a problem. You can change flights right on the website. There are no change fees with Southwest.

We always travel during President's week in February. A few years ago I purchased my tickets early just like I do every year. A few months had gone by and I was talking to another traveler and he just happen to mention he was heading to Florida for President's week as well and happened to mention his dates which were a week different then mine! My heart sunk as I checked the calendar and saw that for the upcoming year Presiden't week had shifted to the following week!! I had the wrong week tickets!!! I contacted the airline and swapped them but I did have to pay a fee. Now I always double check those dates. Good luck.

Yep, no problems changing flights with Southwest.

Under the book air tab, in the drop down menu will be a choice to "change reservation" click on that and follow the directions. Easy.

You will have to pay what the current price is for the new/correct flight. If it's less, you'll have a credit for future use. If it's more you just pay with a credit card. No cancel fees or rebooking fees.

You get really far into the process BEFORE you commit to the change, there will be a button after you click on whose ticket you want to change, after you select a new flight, and after it shows the new price. Then there will be a button to click on to purchase ticket(s).

More people make this mistake than we realize. Once I booked the return flight for the wrong month! Had the right day but the following month. My Mom had the eagle eyes to catch that before we left! Pfew!

Thanks everyone! It was easier to change than I realized~that's why I love Southwest!
phred52, thanks for walking me through it!

I'm glad you made me feel better about making the mistake and that it is probably not that uncommon.
I couldn't believe I did it to begin with!

I did not know it was that easy to change on Southwest. I just changed mine to cheaper flights and now have credits to use later.
