UGH!!!! RANT at OKW....

Once at a timeshare in Williamsburg the folks above us were quite big and made lots of noise just walking around. My kids 4 and 6 at the time were making a game out of it and running and laughing to get away from the monsters. Since I was annoyed at all the noise, I didn't stop my kids.

They came down to yell at us. That was a tough one. Did I tell them that they sounded like a herd of bison ambling about and my kids were merely making a game of it, or just suck it up and apologize and make my kids ignore them. It was one of my nicer days, so I just apoligized and had my kids be quiet.

It's tough to be under a GV at OKW too. The hardwood floors in the dining room/living room/kitchen echo really badly in the second bedroom below. You hear ever chair that is moved at the dining table above.

I had never thought of this! More people, more noise. You can bet I will pay careful attention to our room assignment from here on!

I am not sure if I could have been so kind. It is pretty funny that they made a game out of it, though!!!

I haven't ever had this problem at WDW, but I've had it in hotels. Depending on what things sounded like, I've either knocked on their door and politely asked them to quiet down, or called the front desk.

Either of those options are a simple fix. I certainly would not have sat there and listened to it very long at that time of night.

These days, I think I would just call the desk. We mentioned our issue to the desk the next day and they apologized all over the place and said they would have handled it. Thing is, our teenage boy slept thru it. If we had gotten up to make the call, he would have woke up and we sure didn't want him to hear it! Between a rock and a hard place with this one. There was one time we complained and it got quieter...not quiet...just quieter. But hey, it was an improvement.

THis sort of thing happened to us at OKW many times--until we finally decided that we would only stay on the top floor. Too bad ,because the ground floor is quite convenient. But with herds of cattle above us each and every trip, peace of mind became more important...

When we stayed at OKW in Dec 06, we encountered loud guests on our first night there. We thought it was ironic because we stayed the first 2 nights at AS Movies and we were NEVER disturbed by noisy neighbors. We moved to OKW and the first night we were awakened by some loud "kids" arriving in late. We finally called the front desk and the noise stopped. The rest of trip was very peaceful though!

I was in a hotel last week in Dallas. Around 11:30-12:00, a couple in the next room decided to get "romantic" and were very loud. Either that or they were watching an "adult" movie with the sound turned way up!:lmao:

OMG that's funny :lmao:

We had very noisy neighbors at OKW in Jan. It literally sounded like the kids were jumping up and down. This happened several times. Later at night and really early in the morning. My DDIL called the front desk on 2 occasions. We have never even heard our neighbors at SSR.

We were at OKW in Jan this year and noticed thin walls and ceilings. We could hear a normal conversation coming from next door. At night we could hear the squeak of the bed upstairs and they were not even getting "Romantic". We did not encounter the same thin wall problems at either BCV nor VWL. Needless to say we were not thrilled. For me, I'll use OKW as a last option now. Thin walls are not my friend. Just glad we were at OKW only 2 of our 12 nights.

The slide at the pool was fun though.

I feel for you!!! I have been in a situation like that before. Now, we tend to stay up late, however, the people above us were obnoxious!!! After the 3rd night of trying to stay calm and put up with the constant flushing of the toilet, pitter patter of many little feet, we called security!!!! The parents/adults went out nightly, and left 6 kids alone in a 2 BR!!!! Teenages babysitting!!! These kids went crazy all night!!!

It really puts a damper on your vacation!!! WE always request an upper floor even though my husbands knee kills him everytime we move into our room and have to lug the suitcases up the stairs!! I always remind him of that time with the constant flushing of the toilet!!!!

I would call security if it continues. you are entitled to some quiet enjoyment!!!

A few years ago I was at a Hyatt in Boston on a business trip. My plane got in quite late, I arrived, checked in, put on jammies and crawled into bed.

And the guy in the connecting room had fallen asleep listening to ESPN. Loud. I could clearly hear basketball scores. I knocked on the connecting door - no answer. I put a pillow over my head, no good. I took sleeping pills and laid awake. I called the front desk after 40 minutes of this - at 1:00 in the morning.

They agreed to move me to an empty room - the room number they gave me was across the hall and a few doors down. I packed up my toothbrush, threw my dirty clothes into my bag, grabbed my stuff, and camped outside my new room for five minutes - in my jammies - until someone arrived with a new key. I was nodding off against the door by the time they arrived. I walked in, left my stuff inside the door, crawled into bed, and fell asleep.

When I woke up the next morning, I had an amazing view of Boston Harbor - I'd been moved to the "good" side of the hotel and upgraded.

Doesn't OKW have a quiet hour after which guests are required to be quiet? Most resorts do, don't they? If that happens again I would call the front desk to mediate the problem.

I would say that's pretty rare at OKW as we've not run into it.

PS WalMart sells good ear plugs for less than $2.
