this is enough to make a sane person BONKERS. What are the differences? If your winning the Skyauction is that for the resort only and it's different than the 2 bedroom at the Villages? Is it as nice? <SIGH> just when I think I figured it out and got a good deal it's all confusing again.

I have not stayed at the Vistana Resort only at Vistana Village. The Villiage is wonderful and very new. It is only 3 years old and they are still building. I have a friend who stayed at the Resort and she said it was clean but getting old and a little worn around the edges. If I had a choice it would definately be the Villiage.

Villages is about 5 or 6 mins further out than the resort. Vistana Resort is closer to Disney near LBV while Vistana Villages is about a third of the way up International Drive nearer to Sea World.

I believe the resort is bigger, has more restaurants etc (the Village only has 1 Deli type thing) but as menioned above the Villages are far newer and therefore not as "lived in"

I am choosing between the two also. A travel agent told me the resort is 4stars but village is 3stars.

I have 2 small kids and know we will need to have some fun at home and not stay at the park all day. Any ideas about which place has better children facilities?

Hi jenniejones0,

In the UK brochures the Vistana Village has a rating of 4.5 stars
(can`t do the half). We are staying there in 10 days, and have a six year old DD. I understand that the pool is fab and there is a childrens playground. Our DD is into swimming so the pool is where we will chill out.

I got this on the skyauction also, checking in this friday, I have read to ask for the cascades section, I will and let you know next week. We got a great price, we are DVC members, so this is first time staying outside of disney in a resort. Have stayed in many hotels so this will be an experience.

Villages is definately 4 star for the quality of the rooms and pool but probably loses a star due to lack of facilities/restaurants etc.

Also I have to say the walls are very thin and if you get the wrong neighbours be prepared to stay up late :(

I had a chance to visit someone staying in the resort? (whichever the older one on Apopka-Vineland/535 is). That was honestly the ugliest condo I had ever seen in my life. It looked like a very old apartment complex, and the inside was the nastiest Miami Vice-tastic teal and pink mess. Ugh.

For kids definitely the Vistana Resorts! Many many many people tell me that their CHILDREN did not even want to leave to go to WDW because there is so much to do there! I am going in September and am completely READY!!!

That was the resort. We were put in the old part on our trip in June with a friend"s RCI trade. We were very disappointed in it. The second bedroom had only twin beds (unlike all the pictures we found on their web site) which made it difficult for our large group (3 families, 12 people, two 2 bedrooms). The condos reaked of cigarettes which never went away. We had little bug visitors for around three days which they had to keep coming and take care of. The villas looked like a 60's apartment which they tried to update as much as they could.

I wish we had been in the newer part. I know those are so much nicer and we would probably have had a better feelings about the resort staying at those newer sections. Unfortunately, we won't stay there again with the risk of getting those older condos.

Make sure you insist on the newer section if you stay there; you probably will have a great time then!

we are at the Vistana Resort right now, just beginning our second week -- and love it here! We are in one of the older units--which is teal and pink, but the master bath and bedroom are obscenely large, and we look down on a lushly landscaped pond. we are loving it here. There are 8 pools and lots of little arcades; our kids are having a blast--and from the resort it takes less than 10 minutes to drive to the disney properties.

We stayed at Vistana Resort twice. Enjoyed both stays. First time was in Courts section. I know alot of people don't like this section, but we liked it. There was a pool just down the street, the general store was right around the corner. No complaints about the unit either. It was seven of us, it worked out good.

Second time was is the Lakes section. Really enjoyed it. Unit was a little smaller, but it was only five of us this time. Kids loved the screened patio and the fact that the pool was right down stairs.

We have no problem staying there again.

Have just returned from Vistana Villages and it was awsome, our appartment/villa was huge, immaculate, well decorated, clean, we had an abundance of towels every day to go with the jacuzzi bath and massive shower, 2 large screen TV`s, stereo, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, need I go on, it was wonderful. We would return anytime and fully recommend it.
