Okay... I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have unfortunately gotten morning sickness, which is really more like 'all day sickness'. I'm not vomiting but I feel nauseus and my stomach hurts all day long! I'm so sad because in 2 weeks, I have a convention in Orlando and a friend of mine from Ohio (who's NEVER been to WDW) and I are stopping in WDW for 3 days and staying at WL. So... does anyone have any tips for me on getting through this trip! I want to be as unlike a stick in the mud as possible. Can I still have fun?!? THANKS!

I would definately talk to your doctor. I experience all day sickness through the entire 9 months with all three of my pregnancies (well actually I delivered early). There are some wonderful prescription meds available now. I was able to use these during my 3rd pregnancy and they helped a lot. Perhaps there is something that you could take short term, to get you over the hump. It is certainly worth a phone call to your OB.

Ohhh, poor you. I feel your pain. Just being at home with morning/all day sickness was bad enough for me.

I don't have any real advice, except to maybe eat small meals and keep hydrated, but you knew that already didn't you? At that stage I loved crackers. Ginger is also supposed to help.

I've never tried them, but a friend swore by those bracelets that are supposed to stop seasickness by hitting a pressure point.

It's hard for me to eat anything but big meals at WDW, so I'd focus on finding fruit carts and snacky stops and making sure you eat lots of small snacks throughout your days. And don't overdo. Take lots of breaks, and drink lots of water.

If you haven't told your friend your great news, I'd do that as well, so you don't end up pushing yourself to keep the secret. You have to think of yourself and your baby first.

Finally, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

One thing that helped me was to get Lemonhead candy when I started to feel nauseated. I don't know WHY it helped, but it did. Also, don't drink just plain water if you can help it, that always made me worse. Small meals several times a day.

My cousin was able to get a prescription of some sort that helped her tremendously with her morning sickness last summer, you might talk to you doc!

I found keeping busy and exercise also helped. No matter how sick I felt, if I could just get moving it made me feel better. Not sure if it actually made me feel better or if it just distracted me, but it worked. Be sure to get lots of rest and stay hydrated. I also ate a lot of fruit, watermelon, peaches, you know juicy stuff. For me it tasted good and didn't weigh me down. Good luck, and just remember, your friend will have fun even if you aren't up for a whole lot. Congratulations and have fun!:wave2:

I never got sick, but felt like I would. My dr gave me some prescription (time release) and told me to take that in the morning and prenatals at night. That helped. I got one of those relief bands (you need a prescription for the pregnancy one, but I got the sea sickness one and its the same thing) and it helped quite a bit. Its like a watch but you wear the face down under your wrist. It emits a electrical surge on a pressure point and you can control the intensity. Theyre not cheap though, and can be found at any marine stores. Check out ebay too. I believe theyre called relief bands. Youre going to have fun especially if smells get to you. Think about all the smells at WDW (popcorn, funnel cakes, foods, ride smells, etc). A nice clothes pin might help you with that, but youll look a bit odd! Just kidding of course.

Oh, yes! I am among those unfortunate women who experience some form of morning (who came up with that name -- it lasts all day!) sickness. I went to WDW when I was 5 months along with my youngest. I tried the bracelets for sea sickness. They only work for awhile. I think distraction is the key here. I just kept telling myself that it was my last trip with my DS by himself and I was going to have a good time! By the second day, I was more into than my DH and DS. When my DH came down with a sinus infection, I took my DS to MK and Epcot alone. I would avoid certain places though. LTT did me in -- can't even face the place since then. I am really susceptible to strong smells too so certain places just weren't for me.

I think that as long as you are busy, stayed hydrated, and just go with the mindset that you are going to enjoy yourself, you will be able to do it. Good luck and congratulations!

I'm so sorry you're going through this - I had "morning" sickness all nine months of both of my pregnancies. Truly a wretched experience, lost lots of weight each time.

That said, there are things you can do and everyone here has offered great suggestions. I recommend that you be prepared to try ALL of them since you never know what will work for you. And you may find, as I did, that no one thing will work repeatedly but you might get a couple days out of one solution only to have it stop working.

So, ginger chews (available at Whole Foods), lemon candies, sea bands, some kind of liquid treatment for reflux (Mylanta and the like), coke classic (some people respond well to the sugars), and so on. Pregnancy websites have lots of solutions along these lines. Distraction, as another poster pointed out, is definitely a help. The more time you have available to dwell on not feeling well the worse it is!

Also, talk to your doc. Depending upon your case (i.e., if you're losing a lot of weight) you might be a candidate for a drug like Zofran to help control the nausea. It's VERY expensive ($30/pill)and you may have to get insurance approval first but it works well. Another solution to discuss with your doc is the Sominex/Vitamin D combo - do NOT be afraid of hysteria you read about on the Internet about this. Your doc can give you the straight story.

Finally, you may be one of those lucky women who finds that they begin to feel much better after just a couple weeks of the yucks or can manage things with just a couple crackers and a ginger ale. So don't get too down...and, GOOD LUCK with your pregnancy...Congrats!

My first pregnancy my doc had me take 1/2 a unisom with a vitamin B. It worked a bit, but the prescriptions are 100 times better. Before you try any method you should consult your doc. Also Babies R Us had something called Prego Pops that are supposed to help. The are a lollipop type thing.

Yep! I would call DH and have him pick up Lemonheads on his way home from work. Water seemed to help me. Don't forget to stop and rest.

Hope you feel better and have a great time!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I am 15weeks pregnant right now and will be 6months when I go to WDW! I didnt have really bad morning sickness but I had alot of upset stomach and queasiness. What worked for me was eating green apples..I know it sounds strange but it made me feel better instantly.

I actually got the tip on a Disney Cruise in 2000. The seas were a bit rough and my stomach got upset (seasick!!) so our stateroom attendant suggested I eat green apples. It worked and I have kept doing it anytime I dont feel good!

Everyone says being pregnant at Disney isnt a bad thing. Just take it easy, stay hydrated, and dont overdo it. You can ride more than not they say just stay away from the coasters and stuff.

Good luck with your pregnancy and have fun at WDW!

I have had it with both of my girls(9months), and very little with my son 3rd month only.

Dr. can prescribe compazine works wonders/ gives you dry mouth

braclets/all in the mind they dont work seaband:mad:

ice chips
lemon slices/pickle anything sour someone said lemon heads

Morning sickness is the worst thing about pregnancy/even labor is not so bad!

Congratulations! So exciting! You'll do fine, keep it in your mind that way. Personally, I lived on dry Cheerios for a month. Kept them with me in a baggie and just munched on some every half hour or so. Take it slow, but happy, relax and enjoy. You might not accomplish all you want to, but have fun doing it!

Buy a britta sports bottle with the filter in the lid.[Check w/Dr..] It will save you a ton of money!! And Orlando water tastes and smells like sulpher. So, a britta is a must to stay hydrated!!

Poor you! It does pass eventually (at the birth if not before!!). I had to do a business trip just after the 1st timester when I should have been over it......but unfortunately all the travel was in old coaches (buses) on bumpy roads which made me feel terrible.

I survived on chewing small lumps of ginger - available from health stores. Also make sure you don't feel hungry. Carry dry cereal, crackers, rice cakes that sort of think, and keep sipping water (sparkling water can help but it can also give you wind!).

And what works for me - avoid anything which spins round.

Good luck!

I was at WDW 9 weeks along and very nausous. In fact I tossed my cookies in several times a day during our stay. BUT it was still a great time.

I lived on Cheese fries. I also found that eatting to little is just as bad as eating too much. Try to keep a little food in you at all times. And drink LOTS AND LOTS of water.

Rest when you need too...

Have fun!

Papaya always worked for me. All the health food stores carry it. You can never overdose as it is all natural. Helps both upset stomachs and "Oh God I ate too much" stomachs.

I used it during both pregnancies and still keep it stocked in the house for after Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners!

I'll put in my 2cents too. I was sick until 32 weeks w/ dd and the RX the doc gave me did something to me the one time I took it so I never took it again. It made me feel like something was crawling on my skin all night (took it before bed) and I could not sleep that night; so my experience w/ the prescrips was not a good one. I found that ice, suckers or other hard candy would help and even in dire circumstances, a jar of pickle juice. Also, I drank alot of Coke Classic; I've heard it has ginger so maybe that is why it helped. It was the only thing I could keep down for a very long while. As suggested, try these things before you go so you will know how much they will help. Congratulations and good luck!!!
