I used to be just like your DH. I still am, a little. I love the parks. The insanity, the lines, the heat, the crowds, they're all worth it to be standing in those parks, watching the magic happen. So I totally understand where he's coming from, I do.
But I will never regret cruising with
DCL. I love it, my wife loves it, our friends love it.
I don't feel cramped or boxed in the ship. Yes, it's encased in plastic, but the thing is ginormous, and there's enough open deck space that it's just like being at the parks. You're in the sun all day, and then you go back to your hotel room at night.
I never feel bored on the ship. There is stuff to do pretty much 18-20 hours a day. Sports and beer? There's a sports bar. Gadget/car guy? There's usually a talk with some of the engineers. I geeked out at that, becuase it was me and a bunch of retired Navy guys in black socks asking about torque and displacement. Dinner and a show? Yeah, we've got those, too.
