UGH! Member Services Systems Are UpGrading!

I have been waiting for today to book at the 7 month booking window for Thanksgiving week for several months. I thought I had everythng planned and timed perfectly to call MS exactly at 9AM only to find out that their systems are "upgrading" and won't be available until after 10 AM. I know I will likely be waitlisted but I wanted to be the first person on the waitlist at the 7 month window! I can't do that now since I will not knwo exactly when the system's will open up. What's that saying about the best laid plans.... Anyone else cal this AM?

But....if someone is taking a trip in November, let's say a week before you, and the dates of your trips overlap and they had to waitlist, they would still be on the waitlist before you anyway. I don't know how a person ever gets 1st on the waitlist.

I think there are some owners at VWL who are on the waitlist for various days for Thanksgiving(Wed & Thurs). I would also assume BWV may have owners on the waitlist already for Std/BW views. So they would be ahead of the 7 month gang.

Sorry- My post must have been confusing! I know I would not be first on the waitlist because of the 11 month booking window. I wanted to be the first one the waitlist of the members calling at the 7 month mark as I figure many others would also be calling for Thanksgiving week as well. I know I would be on the lwaitist after everyone who called in the 11 month window.

But it didn't matter after all! I just got off the phone with MS and BWV was available for our first night! The hard nights will be Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week and I know I will definitely have to waitlist for those nights!

Yes, my thread on the topic is on the misc. board. I was calling for the last day of concierge at AKV for my reservation in March, which is almost impossible to get anyway. Concierge is normally gone within 2 minutes of 9 am. Now I won't even know when that 2 minute window starts.

But, here's what I'm saying....lets's say you are vacationing Nov 21 - Nov 28...you would be able to make your day by day ressies on Nov 22nd and the whole trip ressie on Nov 28 ....Now if someone is vacationing Nov 20 - Nov 27 they are able to call one day ahead of you and have themselves on the waitlist before you. If someone is vacationing Nov 19 - Nov 26, they have two days up on you, so I'm not sure it's that easy at any time to be the first on the waiting list. Hope that makes sense and sorry if my lame attempt of being funny got confusing.

I don't follow your logic. Doing day by day reservations has nothing at all to do with the overall length of the trip. Each night stands on its own.

This is not true.

Everyone who is using non-home resort points to book at 7 months has the exact same chance to book any given day. It doesn't matter when the first day of a trip happens to be - you call based on check out day, not check in day.

For example assume we both have to use the 7 month window for BWV. If your trip starts on Thanksgiving day and mine starts the Wednesday before, neither of us can book Thanksgiving night until MS opens for business on April 28. (Thanksgiving is 11/27, so check out for that night is 11/28. 7 months prior to that is 4/28). It doesn't matter that my trip started earlier than yours. If you get in before me, you go on the waitlist ahead of me (assuming there is no availability).

I called at about 9:10 this morning and got right through -- less about a 3 minute wait. No mention of upgrading when I called. I'm booking on my 11 month window and did have a long wait yesterday -- the recording kicked in with "unusually high call volume" message. I forgot it was 7 months to Thanksgiving.

As for MS folks -- Day one, I think I got a "green" newbie. It was painful to listen to her read through the script. "Now they want me to ask you to verify your home address" "Now they want me to tell you about cancelling" -- but she did get the job done. Yesterday -- a superstar CM. Today, not a superstar but just about there -- very personable. Let's see what tomorrow brings!

FYI - I've been waitlisted for 2 days at a BCV studio at the 9 month period, and still am waiting...

So I'm assuming that people WL at the 7 month would come after those of us using our home resort advantage and are already on the WL...

I am hoping at the 7 month Jig that my WL comes thru...

I knew this, don't ask me why, but for some reason in my head I was thinking that there's always someone with a seven month window before me. I know, I know....I don't know what I was thinking.....and this was my thought process midday!! You don't want to know what my thought process is like in the evening!!

Absolutely... I was going to point this out too. Day by day... that is the beauty of the DVC system... equal opportunity for everyone.
