Now this is just plain disgusting...

According to one of our local Toronto TV stations, Pulse24 ( www.pulse24.com ) the current temperature here is 33 C which equals 91.4 F.

The Humidex reading (I prefer the Floridian way to describe it as "The real feel" myself) is currently reported to be 37 C, which just happens to be 98.6 F.

Brian just walked into the apartment, and said that the outdoor temperature readout on Little Red said 97 F when he got into the car at 5 pm.

Meanwhile, at 6pm (according to OrlandoWeather.com ) it was 86 F with their "Feels Like" at 88 F in Orlando.

It's hotter here in our part of Canada than in Florida. Ugh. Plus we are under our 2nd-day-in-a-row Pollution Advisory here. Add to that the miserable weather we had this past winter, and is it any wonder that I want to move us, lock, stock and barrel down to Orlando???

:smooth:

Sandy (who happens to be extremely grateful that our AC is working for once in the condo!)

The Weather Bug on my computer says it is 94 degrees right now (7:07 PM) at Laguardia Airport, about 3 miles from our house. Sure would be nice to fly to Orlando now to cool off! Oh well, time to get the A/C in the window.

Ugh. I can't believe this. There I was, driving Little Red while Brian was in the copilot's seat (watching for hopper calls, but also posting to this forum...) and the girls were strapped into their respective seats in the back seat...and at 3:30, our Beetle's exterior thermometer-doohicky-gauge read...

101 F !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Okay, I now know for a fact that:

1) if I can handle this weather here in Toronto, I can definitely handle living in or at least around Orlando during the summer (also, we have at least experienced June in Orlando - I don't know if it gets even hotter during the other summer months or not, but...) plus I grew up in Indiana, where (in an un-airconditioned house, too, I might add) it wasn't uncommon at all for there to be 85 - 95 degree days all summer long, with lots of humidity thrown in (just for good measure, y'know)...

and:

2) I know that it can't be nearly as miserable down there as here, because what happens around Toronto is the pollution gets stuck at the lower altitudes because of those nasty, nasty temperature inversions... which is one reason why we have so many pollution-advisory days here. The pollution/haze just sticks around; no nice Gulf or Atlantic breezes happening to blow out the bad air like what happens in Central Florida.

and just for good measure...

3) Come winter, I'm gonna be singing Jimmy Buffett's "Boat Drinks" (at the top of my lungs):
"I gotta go where it's warm!!!!!"

Sandy - yup, I'm a Parrothead... (and Brian, Bonnie & Kellie)

UGGGHHHHH?????

This weather is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! It could only get better if it gets hotter. I love it. Tomorrow they are saying it will be in the high 90's, maybe close to 97. Wow, I can't wait for tomorrow.

I wish I lived in FL where they have this heat most of the time, 3 more years I hope. I thought about moving to AZ but it's not the heat, it's the humidity. It's really good for your skin to stay moist.
I opened the pool yesterday and I am looking forward to the sun heating that water up to the high 80's. A bathtub in the sun.

You're crazy Peggie! AC for me whne it gets this hot. I hate when the pool water is over 76º.

I do really like the warm weather, too... (which is why I do want to move us to Florida, beyond the obvious - being closer to WDW! ;) ) But Canada? Warmer than Florida during the summer?    It just ain't natural. I mean, when we went down to WDW in June two years ago, everybody around here said "what, are you nuts? Going to Florida in the SUMMER?????? It's going to be miserably hot then!"

I truly believe that the worst part about this whole thing is the pollution. Ontario's Minister of the Environment, in his infinite wisdom, announced the other day that everybody who uses a backyard barbeque is a major contributing factor to the current pollution problem - but that the coal-fired electric plants here (one of which, Nanticoke, on the north shore of Lake Erie, is the single-worst polluter in all of North America) are just a very small part of the current problem...    yeah, right.

I guess I should have said that the true "Ugh" isn't so much the heat, but the fact that the pollution is what makes it so oppressive here. Sorry about the confusion! :teeth: So, yup, Peggy, I'll have to agree, I do love the warmth! I only wish we could breath clean air... :( :( :( :( :(

Sandy (wheeze) and Brian, Bonnie & Kellie, too!

Ok everyone, The pool is open, and the water temperature is 80 today. I will put the solar cover on tomorrow so it should be up to the mid 80's by Sunday. I went in today but the rest of the family said it was too cold for them. It actually felt pretty good, just a little chilly at first.
I love the summer. Peggie
