Ok, I want to start by saying that I realize that in the GRAND SCHEME of things, this is not a big deal.....however.....

I booked our flights on Song 8 months ago and we don't fly for another 4 months; so basically I booked our flights as soon as I was able to, a year in advance, specifically so I could choose the seats I wanted.

Just this evening I checked my reservations online and ONCE AGAIN they've changed the flight number (ONLY the flight number is changed, the flight times are exactly the same), and now our seats are GONE and they've stuck us near the back of the plane. I am so aggravated!! Is this a common practice among airlines, or does Song just not have its act together??

Anyway, sorry....just needed to vent about this!!!!

P.S. Our flights are Boston to Orlando, and back, for the end of August/beginning of September of this year.

Sorry bout that.....but that is the problem with reserving seats....they are NOT a guarentee that you will be in the same one that you reserved.

That is one reason I love SWA. I know from the get-go what the seating policy is.

SeaSpray--they changed our flight number for Feb too. Departure time, EXACTLY the same, arrival time, 12 minutes later. I think Song is 'getting their act together' and finally shaking out all the growing pains. When they changed our flight number, they never reassigned our seats. We were ticketed, but not assigned. I got that straightened out.

BTW--we are flying BOS to RSW

Me too!!! The times are the same, only the flight number is changed and the previously ticketed seats are now blocked off. This is for my trip in August and again at Thanksgiving, same flights. When I spoke to the Song rep. she told me the seats that are blocked off are for those of us already booked. Okay, so why can't I have the ones I booked months ago?? Because since the schedule change isn't finished yet, they have to keep them blocked off. So, I'm in the waaay back and will keep checking several times a day in order to get back to the seats I need. Just what I need, more busy work!!!

Sorry to hear this, it must makes you nuts!

No, I don't have this problem with Northwest Airlines. They have never changed seats on us and we have flown them maybe a dozen times. Unfortunatley, they charge an arm and a leg for a ticket, LOL.
We fly out of a small airport, only two airlines fly outta there so we are stuck with NW.

Can you call them and try to swtich seats again?

herc.

It had never happened in many years of flying USAir. Then on my honeymoon they kept changing the flight number... seats etc. I will say that when we would call they would try to do their best to help us with seats. HOWEVER...... my new husband and i could not even sit together on our way home from our honeymoon on part of the flight. A man switched with us on the plane and was very nice.
SO I seem to be hearing about it happening more lately

I flew home from Orlando tonight on USAirways and it was a pretty full flight. At the gate, they kept making an announcement that they needed 3 adults age 15 and over to make a trade with a family with kids that were seated in an exit row. Wonder how that happened?

On our Northwest flight a few weeks ago, they cancelled my daughter's seat assignment and gave her a new one, leaving my seat alone. My daughter is 7 years old!!! When I told them at the gate that she was not sitting alone, they reassigned both of us...to the VERY LAST row on the plane! We went from row 4 to the back...I was not a happy camper but at least we were together!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I guess this is going to be something that I'll be checking EVERY day now, instead of every other day like I had been doing.

Funny thing is, goofy4tink is right I think, because this morning our original seats WERE available so I quickly changed back to those seats. Now who knows where we'll end up sitting on the actual plane this summer. LOL

Ah, the joy of SWA, no worries, no angst, I know that plane will fly at the scheduled time and I know there will be no changes.
gotta love that.

Song has no reason to be "shaking" anything out, they are owned by Delta, they have had all the "shaking out" done for years.

The exit row seats could have been assigned in error if the family failed to mention that one of their party was a child. I have seen that happen. (I have also heard of people flat out lying, "Yep we meet the qualifications" when in fact they did not and just assuming that the airline would let them get away with it. In that case I think they should be scattered all over the plane! I was on a Delta flight where the woman in the exit row admitted that she had lied on the on line booking screen when it asks the questions. Her statement "I figured it really didn't matter, I would handle the door" LOL!)

I just had my flight number change with Delta for my Oct trip. I called them as soon as I noticed I couldn't access my flight home. Btw, it just happened to be a Song flight. Delta told me over the phone that the change is in process and I should have the same seat assignments. I checked later in the day, after I received an email with the flight change and sure enough, our seats are the same and I still have the option to change them if I wish. I know it is early and could change again, so I will keep checking. I booked through Delta, and it was originally a Song flight, but now it is a Delta flight.

Yup me too. I looked online as we were the only passengers in the back 1/2 of the plane and guess what. They changed the flight #'s and we had NO seats. They had a booked on the flight with NO seats. Guess we were going to Stand to FL. Hey we paid to fly there not sit on the way LOL.

I do like Song, though, I may have to try Jetblue next time. I just dont like Jetblue's times. Song times fit better.:D

I know Song is trying to get out the fluff but they are about a year old. How long does this take? This is the 4th change in 2 months. Guess I better keep checking every day or so.

Also what about the prices $87 then $89 , $107 then $104 now $106. And they say we women are indecisive.

Same here!!Flight # has changed, but my seat assignments are the same. I just booked this on Tuesday, and it's already changed!
I will have to check on a regular basis!!:charac2: :rolleyes1

Had an interesting experience on AA coming home last week. We were only able to get a window-middle and another middle when we booked 3 weeks out. I was seated next to a pilot who was deadheading the flight, and he was surprised that we were separated when we booked that far out. He told me that as of the day before the flight, 40 seats were still open, and that there were over 20 airline employees on board. When I got up to go to the WC, I checked for the badges to see where they were; every one was in a window or aisle, and no two in the same row. I guess that was my explanation of why I could not get a row of three.

On the flight down on Saturday, AA told me to keep calling up until departure b/c there were lots of blocked seats, but that they couldn't give us 2 together anywhere. I kept calling, and kept getting told that they could not open the seats. I wasn't able to get assignments until I got to the kiosk at the airport to check in; again, lots of middle seats, though I did manage to find one open aisle in a row behind an open middle--I grabbed it because I knew it was the only good trade on the plane. I was able to trade it; a double trade, actually. I traded with the man in front of me who was sitting across the aisle from his wife and 2 kids, so that DS had the middle and I had the aisle. Then the guy who had the window pops up from chatting with a buddy 2 rows back and says, "would your child like the window?" Meaning of course, that he wanted the aisle. I gave it to him; DS does like the window, and the middle isn't bad if I can raise the armrest on one side.

Another scene from that flight down: someone had booked aisle and window in the hope of getting a free middle for a lap baby, but someone got the middle seat: a very heavyset woman with a h3ll of an attitude on her. She boarded first, and when the woman with the baby boarded, the middle seat lady threw the fit of all time. "I MUST sit with the armrests up; and I'm not about to put up with that brat all the way to Florida!" "I *demand* to be moved to another seat!" Yadda, yadda, and much of it unprintable. The lady with the baby didn't move, but a family nearby had their young son switch from an aisle and take the nasty lady's middle seat. He was about 10 and wore a walkman all the way, so I guess his parents figured he wouldn't notice the baby too much, and that way the rest of us didn't have to listen to nasty lady whine for the next 2 hrs. and 40 minutes. Personally, if I were the FA, I would have moved her seat all right; I would have put her out on the jetway.

I just pulled up our ticket information and our flight numbers were changed but our seats are intact and the times are the same.

Now, last month when they changed the flight times, our seats were not showing on their website. However when I called Song directly, they were in the Song reservation system.

I did call Song today and they told me that all flight numbers are being changed. I was also told that I didn't need to have new ticket iteneraries (spelling) sent but if I felt easier she would. I told her that since July was still a little off, just incase they "changed something again" I'd wait.

I am soooo annoyed with Song!! Gail is so right...they aren't shaking anything out!!! They've had plenty of time to get their routes/numbers right. I think I'm being smart and call them directly. They don't tell me that there is going to be basically no change. No. They go ahead and assign me new seats. Okay I think. That's done. They tell me I can keep checking and redo my seats if something better is open. Do they tell me to just sit tight and my original seats will be reassigned? No. That would have been nice. Now, we're sitting over the wing, which terrifies my dd, my dh, at 6'4", is going to be hugely cramped. That's why I book as soon as I can...to get the front row seats so my dd is happy flying and my dh isn't getting leg cramps and having the person in front of him recline the seat into his lap!!! I've just about had it with Song. Maybe it is time to make the jump over to SW!!!

If it weren't for the fact that I waited too long to book, and DH wouldn't pay JetBlue's fares (at the time) I would not be flying with Song.

I mentioned to DH yesterday after reading the original post that "I sure hope WE (actually he knew I meant HIM) didn't make a mistake!

This happened to me years ago on TWA and they gave our seats away at the last minute. Thank goodness 3 people gave up their seats or we would not have gotten on that plane! I was FURIOUS! I swore I'd never fly them again.

Fast forward 5 years and I decide to give American a chance because they had $200 RT from St.Louis to MCO and I didn't think I could do any better on SW. So, I booked online and picked my own seats and thought I was on top of the world! Then I see they changed the flight numbers going and coming and the aircraft coming home from a 757 to an MD-80. Big difference in plane!! So, two of my seat assisgnments were moved to the back of the plane and two were left in the front. I was trying to take it in stride and figured dh and I would have to split up with dd's. (8 and 6 yrs old) Now I have been checking almost daily and a couple seats opened up toward the front, so I clicked on them! Now, I am checking the internet on a daily basis. Let's see if I can hang on to them until June 19! I can guarantee you I will be printing out the boarding passes as soon as they are available and will have them in my hot little hands when we arrive at the airport! We WILL be on that plane!::yes::

I'm so glad to read all this info on Song. Hubby and I are booked for FLA on June 3rd, returning June 7th. Everyday I check my itinerary on Expedia (we booked through them) and low and behold, Saturday it said, "flights have changed please call Expedia". In a panic, I did. Turns out they only changed flight numbers, but even tho we had the same seats going to FLA, it said for the return trip, "we had to get seats at check-in"!

Please realize, I haven't flown in SIX years and we've never gone on SONG before so I was a little wierded out by this. I'm not a fan of flying (but am of DISNEY!!!!) - but now I just checked our itinerary again ten minutes ago and we have all original seat assignments back!?! Which I'm thrilled with but am I going to have to keep checking this every day until June 3???!!!!

Also, is Song a good airline for a "not so good" flyer??? I imagine with the tv's and stuff it will get my mind off the flight.

I just want to make sure I sit with my hubby on both legs of flight or else some stranger will be very annoyed with me!!!! :)

thanks,
