I've been searching and researching hotels for what feels like forever! I was all excited because I thought I had found the perfect one- the Residence Inn on Harbor until I called today and apparently "1 Twin/Single Bunk" means bunkbeds and now that room won't work for us :(

We need a room that has two doubles or queens for me, my husband and the boys and then a separate sleeping area for my mom with a queen/double, tvs in both rooms and a continental breakfast. Can anyone think of a hotel that fits all of that and isn't too expensive? I'm considering the Islander even though I hear the continental breakfast is pretty much just danishes. Anyone have a review of the Islander?

Check out Desert Inn & Suites - www.anaheimdesertinn.com

They have suites that have 2 rooms with 2 double/queen beds in each room with TV etc that sleeps 8 or a room for 6 people with 2 queens in one room and a sofa bed in the other.

Feedback on this hotel has been positive on the boards and it is right across from the Disneyland walkway. The prices seem to be reasonable too!

Good luck with your search! :goodvibes

The embassy suites or homewood suites, both are good neighbor hotels for about $140 a night, they have a separate bedroom with 2 queens and then a pull out sofa sleeper that is really comfy in a separate room both rooms have tvs and there is a free breakfast with eggs bacon sausage French toast pancakes cereal fruit bagels and toast. They also have a managers reception every night with free snacks and cocktails.

You could also try and rent a house in the anaheim/ garden grove area.... We are going as a family of 4 plus grandma and grandpa and this option is even a bit cheaper than a hotel!! Something to look at as well.

Check out the Hyatt Orange County. It is a gorgeous hotel, just renovated this spring. We usually book a 2 bedroom Queen Suite which consists of three rooms (all with one door, but doors in between the three): a king bedroom with TV and full bathroom; a living room with pull out sofa (queen, I think), TV, fridge, desk, etc.; and a 2nd bedroom with two queen beds, TV and another full bathroom. The price varies but we have gotten it for as low as $179 a night even during peak season. It's really a great deal and a fantastic hotel. They do not have continental breakfast but there is a Starbucks in the lobby to grab something on the go, or stop by Target (right across the street) and stock up on breakfast items. The fridge is helpful in that respect!

The Hyatt is at least a mile up Harbor from DLR so not an easy walk but they do have a reliable shuttle that runs every 30 minutes - very easy!

Try the RI maingate.

Staybridge Suites has 2 bedrooms with the 2 doubles in one and a king in the other, plus a sofa bed. They have a great free breakfast and on a few nights a week, they have a free dinner bbq.

Ramada Maingate has a family suit that is that- it has a room with 2 queens, and a adjoinging room with a single - the single has its own bathroom and tv- the other one has 2 tvs a kitchenette and another bath. Nothing fancy by any means- but it worked.

It's not walking distance, but we stayed at one of the Embassy Suites hotels (can't remember which) when we went with my parents and grandmother. They had 2 queen beds and dh and I slept on the pull out sofa in the seperate living room. It worked for us and we loved the free full breakfast. Though the bed in the front room wasn't very comfortable, and I would have liked 2 bathrooms.

Another vote for Homewood Suites on Harbor & Chapman or Residence Inn Maingate on Clementine & Disney Way. We are actually staying at the RI Resort Garden Grove bc we want to have the bunk beds but we have been very pleased with our last 2 stays at the Homewood Suites.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It's just frustrating to be back to the drawing board LOL I had decided on a hotel, then my mom decided to join us, so had to go back to the drawing board, and now this :) I'm feeling pretty good about the Islander, though. It's got the floorplan we need and is only $113 a night. For the money we're saving, we can buy breakfast.

The Ramada maingate doesn't have a family suite available the nights we are going to be there and the others suggested are either out of our price range or only have a sofa sleeper and my mom can't sleep on that.

Our other option is the castle inn for i think $128 a night but the floor plan isn't perfect because you have to go in the other room to use the bathroom and let's just say- my husband doesn't wear pajamas LOL

I have the large two bedroom two bathroom suite at Desert Inn and Suites booked for Jan for only $119 a night. It's right across the street and has a small breakfast (mostly danishes from what I hear). It has a separate sitting room and 2 queen beds in each bedroom. Did you look into it?

If the entertainment rate opens up the HoJo is an option too- do they guarantee connecting rooms?

Desert Inn and Suites meets all of your needs. That is where we stayed in 2008 and where we're staying again this year. Our children will be in one room (each in their own queen bed) and that room does not have a door that opens to the exterior. That room will connect to our room. Our room also has two queen beds. Each room has a toilet and televisions although there is only one shower/tub. There also is a basic breakfast and it is right by the crosswalk and Denny's and IHOP.

ok calm down take a deep breath everything will work out for you! that is why you are a dis member we all can help you!:flower3:

ok so now that you have calmed down.....

i think that you should ditch the idea of staying at the residance inn if they are going to mess your ressie's up like that! try a different place to stay, obviosuly they dont have the room type you need and want!:goodvibes

Also have you tried like carousel inn or candy cane inn? or the hojo?:lovestruc:goodvibes

LOL I'm calm, my head is just spinning with all the info in it from all the searching but hey, at least I'm earning swagbucks when I search :)

I think, unless someone tells me something horrible about it, we are going to go with the Islander. It fits our budget, has the right floor plan and it does have a continental breakfast even if it's not a very good one :)

So we're going to be going Oct 15th-18. We are going to go to the trick or treat party on Friday, then have two day park hoppers for Sat and Sunday. Would you focus on Disney on Saturday and CA on Sunday or the other way around? :) And could we do a character breakfast Monday morning even though we aren't going in to the park?
