I feel like I was fleeced. I signed on with a new policy in Sept. The premiums were supposed to be $150 per month less than my old policy. Which they are. HOwever, we are now recieving bills for every office visit, pharmacy visit & procedure we have done. To the tune of $100-$300. I have started the process of changing insurance again. BY the time I find out I owe the dr/lab...we are "past due". We always pay our bills on time. I am so disgusted.

This is why it is important to carefully read the benefits and requirements of a health insurance policy before you sign it. It sounds like in exchange for a lower premium, you have a higher co-payment or more likely, co-insurance, where you have to pay part of the cost of any visit, prescription, procedure, etc.

It's important to compare any expected out-of-pocket expenses in addition to the monthly premium. Sometimes a lower premium is not worth it if you need to use medical services a lot.

It sounds like your old insurance used to be a PPO - where you have a copayment and the Dr. agrees to a lower fee with the insurance co. Your insurance now sounds like the ins. co. pays a certain amt. and then you are responsible for the rest. Hope you get it corrected and everything turns out for the best.
