Ugh! Giving advice is useless! Vent...

I've found that it's better to give more general advice (get there early, pick the things you want to do the most) than to get into the weeds of touring. What amazes me is how people will be there for five days and end up not riding a lot of the headliners. This isn't because of lines either.

I spend tons of time writing down information - for myself- and then forget and don't use it :confused3

She can do quite a bit at Universal if she gets there at rope drop. Is she at least doing that at each park? The top rides at Universal will be swamped but there's a lot to do if one plans wisely.

The friend who found the Soarin line short probably exited the attraction thinking, well what's the big deal about that attraction anyway? It's only a slow boat ride through a greenhouse, and why in the world do they call it Soarin anyway?

;)

She said she's an early riser and would be ok getting to the park for RD. But thi is Christmas week... I was in Universal at the very end of August - not a very busy time. We were onsite, so it was fine for us, but by 9:30 there was an hour wait for transformers and despicable me.... I can only imagine what those lines are like now!

Yeah - she at least seems to follow my advice about getting there before RD and which park to be in today... But hitting spaceship earth first kind of blew much of her advantage she had from being there extra early...

It is just so tempting: it's right in front of you, and there is no line! Hard to resist even from someone who knows better.

Yes, those hot rides are busy during quiet times so I imagine that it's really tough this week. I would say that she should pick one newer headliner and head straight for it. Rides such as the Mummy and Simpsons should be somewhat manageable early in the day or maybe just before closing.

Ugh. :sad2:

To me, some of these stories highlight why I think it is not that likely that FP+ will be booked 60 days in advance very often, if ever, unless Disney starts assigning FPs to people instead of prompting them to select.

If people ignore advice given to them directly by friends, and are too busy to look at a guidebook, they aren't likely to respond to e-mail messages and mailings from Disney. And, I think these people who are simply unwilling to plan ahead make up a greater percentage of the population that a lot of others think.

I live in a tourist area and it amazes me every day how many people will just show up here with absolutely no idea what there is to do. They basically just roll into town during peak tourist season (4th of July to Labor Day), often with no hotel reservations (good luck with that) and say "entertain me."

As far as the PP who asked if people forgot how to read when they get to Disney World it wouldn't surprise me at all. At work we have a sign with a short blurb (and by short I mean 5 or 6 sentences) telling the public what we are doing. I kid you not every day I see people stare at the sign for thirty seconds or so then look at us and say "so what are you doing?" Really? You were just reading the sign. Basically they stare at it but don't actually read it. I would really like to know why they bother staring at all.
